She did look great, and I also noticed that Deville's make-up was toned down last night as well.
Now WWE just needs to tone down Billie Kay's and stop with the eye shadow trend on some of the other women.

 She looks so healthy. Energetic. And looking so much better. This was my favorite shot at the end of SD. Maybe a combination of leaving the ring and ADR and finally gotten her back into a good place. |

The disconnect with WWE makeup is that it's trying to do two very different things at once. Because WWE wants to be the live experience that you can enjoy from the cheap seats, but also wants to be a slick TV production with dramatic closeups, it doesn't know what to aim for. I'm going to use a few examples from my favourite stage show.  This is Mordema. She's a character from the ensemble, usually involved in the big dance numbers, and her makeup is designed to scream 'big'. It's exaggerated, with dramatic colours, and you can usually spot it even if you're at the back of the stalls.  This is Raven. She's a featured character at the center of the plot's main romance, and a lot of her scenes are projected onto massive screens in the theatre so that we can see more of her expressions. As such, they deliberately toned her makeup down, because even a little goes a long way the closer up you get. As well as projecting very different characters (and I won't deny that's something that WWE has its own issues with, in terms of makeup and costuming), the creators of this musical and the actors involved deliberately tailored their makeup for the medium, giving both characters their own ways of gaining focus based on their position. And as much as I'd like to blame the Glam Squad, they have to be doing all things at all times for all people, and I don't think they should be entirely thrown under the bus. |
