This may be deemed either 'disrespectful' or 'totally warranted' but I really liked this sketch:
Also, "In The Closet" is a very underrated song by MJ.

I’ve legitimately only ever heard bad things about him. I wonder how differently Michael Jackson would have turned out if Joe wasn’t who he was. Honestly, I doubt Michael becomes the King of Pop without everything his old man put him through. Whether that is a good thing or a bad thing is open to debate. Michael became one of the biggest icons of the 20th century, but was quite evidently a very tortured soul his entire adult life. I sometimes wonder if he'd have been happier with the kind of career his brothers had.

Michael became one of the biggest icons of the 20th century, but was quite evidently a very tortured soul his entire adult life. I sometimes wonder if he'd have been happier with the kind of career his brothers had. I don't know. Michael had always stated he wanted to be the biggest artist in the world and at the beginning of his career he wanted to create works that couldn't be ignored. I do believe he loved his career, what he did, and what he created. Obviously he didn't care for the lies, accusations, and extortion attempts that ultimately came with his fame. Realistically I feel if Michael wasn't as kind hearted, sensitive, and forgiving as he was he probably would've had a lot more peace in his life and people wouldn't have taken advantage of him the way they did. There were times where I wish he told various paparazzi's or tabloid reporters to f*** off. I think if he had more of a stand offish approach with rude and vicious reporters and media pundits he'd have been better off mentally.

I have very little positive to say about Joe Jackson. I come from an abusive father myself, so my point of view is colored. But for all the success Michael may have had, all I see is the emotional damage Joe left. I can’t forget or forgive for that. The one positive is whatever Joe did wrong, Michael did right by his kids.
I’m also quite certain Joe Jackson didn’t get past the gate check for the hereafter, so Michael can continue to enjoy his heaven in peace and well earned.

On one hand, he was a terrible father and husband.
On the other hand, without his drive we might not have gotten The Jackson Five and Michael's successful careers and amazing output...
