I might be wrong but I'm sure I've read & heard stuff over the years that prior to the WCW plan being scrapped & plans were to have it as a 3rd brand under the WWE umbrella that Test was being slowly built up to be a main event level star for the WCW brand.
Does anyone else know of this particular rumor & if so was there any kind of segments or anything hinting at this maybe being the case?
I always liked Test until the whole thing where he was working with and against Steiner for the services of Stacey Kiebler.
Anyway just wondered if anyone had heard that same story or was it a figure of my imagination?

I hadn't heard this but it would have made sense. He got a decent push in WWECW for the short time he was on it.

He had a good look to him when he cut his hair. Made him look less like a Triple H clone.

Nash came in a year later so would have been pointless.

He did win the Immunity battle royale which ended up meaning nothing anyways, if he was being built up they got over it fast because he spent the next year messing around as the muscle in the Unamericans stable.

They always wanted Test to be a big deal, but it just didn't click for whatever reason.

I mean WCW would push any 7 foot guy instantly, so it would not shock me one bit if they wanted to make Test a big deal. They would make him Kevin Nash's son or something like that.

I'd say his window was mid-to-late 99, and they shit the bed in such a big way that he never fully recovered and just spent the rest of his run floundering in the mid-card.

Nash came in a year later so would have been pointless. Considering Nash was a living, breathing house of cards by that point, not really.

I always felt Test was a Russo guy, as in someone Russo enjoyed pushing but then Kreski took over and had no interest. Once they did the whole HHH/Steph wedding angle Test was basically toast, especially since he never even got a shot at HHH after that or anything.
Oddly enough some of Test's stuff in the new ECW was quite good. I recall a terrific hardcore match with RVD and also a tag match with Knox against Sabu/RVD.

Remind me: How did he become affiliated with The Alliance during the Invasion? Like every WWF who turned heel around that time. Simply became apart of the alliance for no reason other than he was a heel

Remind me: How did he become affiliated with The Alliance during the Invasion? Like every WWF who turned heel around that time. Simply became apart of the alliance for no reason other than he was a heel He had a reason to join WCW (not the alliance it was pre-alliance) There was talk of a mole in the WWF locker room the WWF beat the shit out of Test because someone leaked they saw Test talking to Shane. Test basically said f*** you guys and joined WCW because of that. (The Mole turned out to be Paul Heyman which is how I know it was PRE-alliance.)
