a little uncalled for. A man, a great musician, just died. OMG I'm so sorry. I hope James Brown doesn't see this. But seriously, folks... Y'know, there's always someone like you in every one of these threads, and I can't for the life of me understand WHY you feel it's necessary. Insult anyone you want who's alive...but have some respect for those who died. Seriously.

Some of his life choices might have been questionable but no one can deny his influences to music and the expansion of soul music to a white audences. His performance on the night of Martin Luther King, Jr assassination prevented a riot as violence was breaking out elsewhere in the country. His longtime drummer Clyde Stublefield lives in Madison and still plays gigs here, I'm interested in seeing what his responce will be.

RIP James Brown. He was a great entertainer. I'm surprised that nobody mentioned his appearence with Ernest Miller at Superbrawl a while back.

Don't really know much about James Brown, but his appearance in Rocky IV singing while Apollo Creed dances is stuff of legend. R.I.P.

I'm sorry. To make up for it, I will pay my respect to the future-dead. Michael Jackson, RIP Diana Ross, RIP Ozzy Osbourne, RIP Justin Timberlake, RIP THEY SANG GOOD. Why hasn't this guy been banned yet? All he does is make posts like this.

My favorite James Brown moment happened in 2001 at the Taste of Cincinnati. There was a bunch of riots that broke out that year after a police officer shot and killed an unarmed black guy. So in an attempt to ease tensions, the Mayor hires James Brown to come to town and perform some of his greatest hits at the event. Thousands of people show up and wait in front of the stage for the Godfather of Soul to show up. Finally, an hour after he's supposed to be there, his assistant takes the stage and starts to warm up the crowd. He kicks in a generic backbeat on a synthasizer, and out comes James Brown!
The crowd goes nut as he staggers on stage, spouting the "Hoo Ha's" he's known for. Then he begins to sing: "Killing is out. School is in. Killing is out. School is in." This goes on for four minutes before he ends it with, "Thank you all. God bless. Be good to each other." And walks off stage. Show's over. No "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag," "Living in America," or "I Feel Good." Just "Killing is out. School is in." It was so bad, it was hilarious.
Rest In Peace James Brown.
