So, my cousin comes over for our Christmas party, he's a bit of an anime geek, but he's young so I figure it's ok, just as long as he doesn't get too into it(Not to be misunderstanding, I just know how harsh other kids can be). So he brings over this new game, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai somethingorother 2, and I'm trying to kill time before I go out to my friends house. I start watching him play, betting the games gonna be crap, cause that's how most anime-based games seem to be, or atleast mediocore. First thing I do notice however though, is the animation in this game is beautiful, it is exactly how cartoons should be portrayed on video games. After a while of waiting he asks me to team with him or whatever, I'm like sure, I haven't watched Dragon Ball Z since Cartoon Network aired the Frieza saga so I'm a little in the dark on it, I start playing it, and wouldn't you know? It's addicting as hell, I mean it's not a perfect fighter like Virtua Fighter or nothing, but it's something new, it's a different style of fighting, kind of like how Smash Bros. was a different style of fighting. Now I'm definitely interested in buying the game as it was actually a fun and different fighting game(something I haven't seen in ages). I lookd on the internet and found the game got horrible reviews almost everywhere, so am I just a sucker for bad games? Is it just my nostalgia acting up? What the deal?

I've heard that these games have been pretty darn good even considering the source material. It looks like the developers took the bad reviews to heart and fixed the games rather than just keep pumping out crap game after crap game.

I'm a huge fan of DBZ, or rather, I used to be...I'm not obsessed like I used to be...but in any case, I still try to play all the games that come by, and I must say, Tenkaichi 2 is amazing. It's a hell of a lot of fun to play, it did a lot to improve over the first Tenkaichi...and it's just a whole lot of fun. Even if you don't like anime, or DBZ, you should give it a shot.

Under the same heading... someone got me a poster of Mae Young, and I was in the bathroom 'studying' it... I realised that the door was unlocked, and stood up to lock it, but fell down, spilling the Jergens handcream all over my face and 'making a hole' through the poster at a most inopportune place... at which point all of my female family members, my old headmistress and the girl I'm dating all walked in.
Should I be ashamed?

Should I be ashamed? Was your old headmistress hot?

Don't be ashamed, the recent Budokai games have been stupidly fun, and simplistic, which means you can pick them up and play damn quickly. And the animation, as you say, is stunning. Combines cel shading and 3D perfectly.
