Wow, a bit surprised Rayne's out in the first round. Well maybe it's some backslash for.bekng Josh Matthews wife? Isn't waking up in the morning next to Josh Matthews punishment enough?

They don’t seem to have made a big a deal of it this year, last year with bringing in JR, Lita, Alundra Blayze, Beth Phoenix etc.

The MYC also didn’t have any major women’s wrestling projects going on around it. This year, the tournament is a part of the bigger Evolution PPV, which is where all the hype on TV is going.

I haven't been keeping up: who's the favorite for the winner of this? Catanzaro, right?
Personally, I'm rooting for Satomura or Martinez (who would have a hell of a match, by the way).

The MYC also didn’t have any major women’s wrestling projects going on around it. This year, the tournament is a part of the bigger Evolution PPV, which is where all the hype on TV is going. They had the red carpet treatment and everything for the finals on what was otherwise a pretty bog standard Smackdown. I think we'll see a lot more television hype for it this time than last because now they have a major main roster project to tie it to and a lot of investment in its PR, to which end I wouldn't be surprised if we even see the NXT women show up on Raw to get the audience used to them, but that's all going to come in time, right now the machine is behind Summerslam.

Favorites seem to be Io Shirai, Tegan Nox, Deonna Purazzo, and Toni Storm. I'd say of those four, Toni is the least likely of the group. She's likely going to be gunning for the UK Women's Title at Evolution.
Tegan is listed because apparently there are some people behind the scenes who want to give her something for missing last year's MYC due to a freak injury. Deonna is because Triple H REALLY likes her, apparently. Sees her as one of the next big things, even though I have to disagree.
Io Shirai is there because well...it's Io Shirai. I feel like she's pretty much a lock for the finals though, since WWE will want a heel/tweener there, and Toni, Tegan, and Deonna are all super big babyfaces, or were portrayed as such (Io was not). And Xia Brookside was a pretty big babyface before/during her match as well. She hugged her dad before her match apparently, who was at ringside. And afterwards, Io looked pleased at Xia being on the ground in pain. Was still a good sport, but it seems the signs are there of her enjoying the carnage she causes. We'll find out after tonight if they decide to portray Io as the big heel of the tournament.
Speaking of Xia Brookside, apparently she's perfectly fine. She didn't suffer any sort of injury. The moonsault spot was either intentional, or a botch on Xia's part. Because I guess she took double knees to the face before Io did the Moonsault (think similar to Andrade's double knees), and Xia may have rolled out a bit too far.

We have brackets. Now, the order in which these are posted will lead to the next rounds of match combinations... Satomura over Martinez Lane over Conti Storm over Matsumodo Yim over Kaitlyn Nox over Matthews Ripley over Catanzaro Shirai over Zeuxis Purrazzo over Li Those are my second round predictions. After that, it becomes a lot harder.
