So yeah was just watching some video and had me thinking about this question
It doesn't mean you have to pick a player who was bad or anything
My 1st pick "White Chocolate" Jason Williams. That boy had odee handle and is obviously a recognizable name in basketball if you watched him play but it had me thinking if he played now and had better shooting he'd be an All Star. If you never seen his highlight package you def need to check it out

White Chocolate was smooth af. Gets forgotten a lot, and probably hustles dudes on inner city courts somewhere.
I'll say Antoine Walker. I liked him as a Celtic, but the guy had 0 shot selection. But he's essentially the quintessential PF in today's game.

I fully believe Dwight Howard in the 80's and 90's would have a ring(s) and he would have been the key piece in a championship team. A defensive big man these days just gets lost in the shuffle.

True, tho his lack of offensive skills still would have hurt him then when he's got Hakeem, Kareem, Mutumbo to deal with to name a few
He would have been a tier below those type of guys but he would and could have been a piece of championship team but I don't know about THE key piece

No joke. David Robinson was way more polished as a big man offensively, and Hakeem still took his lunch money. And I love The Admiral. Everyone loves The Admiral. But it still happened. And Dwight, while more athletic, is no Admiral.

In a sense you can say Dwight if he really wanted to could have been somewhat like Dennis Rodman during that time period except he obviously can't guard all positions like Dennis could but he still would have been a problem. You don't have offensive moves? F*** it just go up there crash the boards and put it back
Problem is once Dwight lost that athleticism the edge he did have will be gone and they would be hurting him

Dwight is a much, much better offensive player than Mutombo so that's a weird inclusion.

I know people like to get on him for being someone who is "soft" or whatever, but as good as he is now, can you imagine a dude like Lebron James playing in the 70's or 80's? Goddamn...

His attitude would have changed quickly when he got knocked on his ass and had to get back up which means trouble for defensive players because he's coming to the paint with elbows and a big body
He would have been up for the challenge for sure and would have been killing

As good as he was during his career. Nolan Ryan would have likely been unhittable in the dead ball era.

Sam Crawford, who was with the Tigers during the Cobb years hit 309 triples and 458 doubles. He retired a few years before the live ball era.
I think Bill James calculated that he would've had almost 500 homers if he played during the 20's and 30's.

Rajon Rondo. He’s one of the most intelligent basketball players I’ve ever seen, his passes and handles are a thing of beauty, unfortunately he can’t shoot. He was only successful because he was surrounded by shooters like Ray Allen and Paul Pierce, but without them he has failed. The guy would’ve been one of the best point guards ever if he played in the 80s or 90s, unfortunately post Steve Nash era and the rules change, Rondo is obsolete.

LBJ as a PF in the 70s/80s would be terrifying. Now to go back further, a Prime Hakeem in the 60s/70s.
