I did not like Zombieland. [EDIT]not movies and I know a lot fans of the genre like to shit on it but the first four seasons of the Walking Dead were really good, and Fear the Walking Dead is good too. Do you remember why you didn't like Zombieland? I remember not liking at least one of the two female characters. I thought the first 3 seasons of the Walking Dead were really good. I don't get why fans of zombie films wouldn't like The Walking Dead, as the zombies and gory scenes often outshine what you'd see in major zombie films with the largest of budgets. The fact that this kind of stuff can be seen on TV blows my mind.

The Bill Murray part was stupid too.

I watched Day of the Dead: Bloodlines tonight. It was horrible. The gore was good and the Max zombie was pretty awesome. But the acting was SO BAD and the ending was like a f***ing Lifetime movie. {Spoiler}a happy ending in a zombie movie, wtf?

So tonight I watched Zombi (or maybe it’s Zombi 2 or Zombie Flesh Eaters). Whatever it’s called it was awesome. That cover was on full display in my local video rental store 25 years ago and it scared the living hell out of me. But it was pretty tame, but f***ing awesome.

Anyone have any overlooked gems from the 1980s? I wouldn’t mind finding some more.
I finally got around to watching the Video Dead, which I’d totally recommend.

I think Brodie has a great list there. If I had to pick one? Dawn of the Dead '78. I could say Night of the Living Dead as well, but Dead is in color and is arguably Romero at his finest. Have to put in a good word for The Beyond as well. You don't go into Fulci films expecting a coherent story though. He earned his nickname, "The Godfather of Gore" for good reason.
There's a Korean film here that has a lot of attention, Train to Busan. I still need to watch it, but an American remake is coming.
Worst? I remember Zombie Lake being boring as hell. Has anyone ever seen Erotic Nights of the Living Dead? I don't think zombies and porn go together. It's this weird thing where there's porn or they'll have the actors and then do porn shots but you can't see the faces so you know it isn't the actors. Yet the stunning Laura Gemser (Black Emmanuelle) is it in and I can watch her in anything. Additionally, she bites a man's wang off.
I want to saw warm bodies, but that's the curmudgeon in me saying there shouldn't be romance like that in a zombie film. I saw it recently though and it wasn't bad. Thinking about it now the plot seems a bit like ROTLD part III.

You don't go into Fulci films expecting a coherent story though. He earned his nickname, "The Godfather of Gore" for good reason. Fulci's Don't Torture a Duckling has a perfectly coherent plot. It is a giallo, however, so it takes more intelligence than most films to unravel the mystery as it unfolds.

Watched Zombi 4: After Death last night. It’s a fun movie with an addicting soundtrack, but not nearly as enjoyably insane as Zombi 3. Of course neither can touch Zombi 2 or Zombi (Dawn of the Dead), which are actually well made films.
Anyone else watching some zombie flicks as we’re a hair over two weeks from Halloween.

I watched a triple feature today that could be considered all zombie or no zombie movies considering how fast and loose you play with your definition of what a zombie or zombie movie is.
The House by the Cemetery: I don’t consider this one a zombie movie, but it does feature some guy who died killing people so if that’s how you define it I guess it could fit.
Death Warmed Up: This is the closest one to a traditional zombie movie that I watched today. It features a mad scientist who thinks he found the cure for death. Only the method he uses turns his patients into pale deranged maniacs some of which end up having their brains explode. The patients become very zombie like, but I don’t think technically dead so in a strict sense it wouldn’t be a zombie movie.
Frankenstein ‘80: This one is only a zombie movie in the way that all Frankenstein movies are technically zombie movies. Zombie purists wouldn’t consider it one though.
