I'm all for it. Everything he's touching right now is working and Candyman getting the remake treatment would be dope

The only bad thing about this is I can't think of many who can match Tony Todd's performance and the original soundtrack. I would be all for this alright.

I am for it because this franchise has been dead for far too long with all the other horror remakes.
But you cannot replace Tony Todd as Candyman because that voice no matter if he is yelling or just speaking calmly IMO is irreplacable.

I don't know if he will still be Candyman since he's getting up there in age but he def will be involved somehow because you can't leave him out
I'm stuck on who could play Candyman now tho. You're going to need a tall and physical presence tho also have the voice to match.

To me this scene is the litmus test if and when people start auditioning and they cannot evoke anywhere near the fear Tony Todd did here then move onto the next person but if Tony Todd is willing to return to the role you bring him the hell back no if ands or buts IMO.

I think someone like Mike Coulter from Luke Cage can pull it up. I think he has enough voice and presence to pull it off.

I'm anxiously awaiting 'US' next year. I have faith he'll do something great with Candyman. That character and Tony Todd's performance should be more iconic than it is.

Idris Elba could pull it off I believe. I’m not sure whether it’d be better with the British accent or an Americanized one though.

Michael Jai White came to mind. Dude is still in phenomenal shape and has a great voice.

Tony Todd on what it took to perform the bee scene in Candyman: “A dental damn to preven tintake-and balls of steel.”

I liked Get Out but remakes of horror movies usually suck.

Candyman's Daughter.
She's sweet, she's deadly, she's bad for your teeth!

Very interested to see this as I liked the original a lot, but I feel like its story and themes were a bit disjointed, trying to do too many things at the same time and not really ever going deep into any of them. I was especially disappointed that the urban legend aspect and how the modern gangs were using it for their own image wasn't expanded upon more, as that was what really set this movie apart from the rest.
I do agree that Philip Glass' music and Tony Todd's charisma are a big part of what gave this movie its identity, and it would be fantastic if they could at least get Glass on board since there ain't no way Todd will reprise the role at his age, considering the contrast between Candyman's youthful and handsome face and his horribly mangled and bee-covered body was what his design was all about. And while Todd was definitely perfect casting for the role and really brought it to life, I am very much against the notion that just because one actor is famous for a specific role means no-one else should ever give it a shot.
Really, at this point, all I'm hoping for is that they don't turn it into yet another PG-13 film about unlikeable douchebags being punished for doing something awful, so you don't relate to them and you don't care what happens to them, and therefore you don't care about what happens in the story, and where jump scares are the only thing allowed.

I liked Get Out but remakes of horror movies usually suck. I think there have been enough good horror remakes to not dismiss the idea outright. Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, The Thing, The Fly, The Blob, and Evil Dead had great remakes. Fright Night and the first Texas Chainsaw remake were pretty good too IMO. Would the Hammer horror movies count as remakes? Even if the new Candyman stunk, if it gets more people to appreciate the original I say give it a try.

I'd watch it, Candyman is one of those horror icons who has kind of been lost in the shuffle.

And we have an anwser as to who will be playing the title character bloody-disgusting.com/movie/3586287/tony-todd-returning-candyman-jordan-peele-produced-sequel-exclusive/There is a whole host of other actors alot of people would have liked but to me this was always the only choice because it is his role and yea you could have had a better "actor" but to me none of them would have had the presence of Tony Todd that voice alone hearing it across an empty parking garage would put the fear into anyone. I was mildly intrigued before but now I am f***ing hyped and cannot wait for this now.
