This week's episode in particular really laid it out that this season's goal was really more about moving all the key pieces into their proper positions for the final season. Short of next week's finale being crammed to the gills with big shake ups, this definitely feels like they had to get all the positioning just right for what they really want to do narratively.

Did Vince Russo write that scene with Noir and The Deep in the hallway?

Lots of plate-spinning this season. Hopefully Season 5 is a marked improvement.

Right, so that finale did do some interesting shake ups, but not enough to change that this was ultimately just a repositioning season. {Spoiler}I did have some, "Hey wait a minute" reactions to some of the deputized Supes in the montage of The Boys being arrested, though. Love Sausage was caught in Soldier Boy's V-neutralizing radiation blast, so last time we had saw him he was carrying around the world's largest limp wang, and yet apparently he got his powers back. But the even bigger, "Wut" was Cindy not only being located, but agreeing to be deputized. Those two kinda felt like ass pulls to me. Also not sure I like the idea that absolutely every "things have gone tits up" domino needing to fall for Butcher's "Kill 'em all" genocide pandemic plan to be the "right" one happened.

Most of the season was spent with leaning into more shock/toilet humor and sidequests that I didn't care much for.
I thought the finale was pretty good and looking forward to seeing how they complete the final season.

I remember reading Irredeemable and there were parts of it that were great but it really felt like it was being padded at some point, dragging out the inevitable. This season felt a lot like that. They gave up any trace of subtlety, though there wasn't a lot to begin with. It seems like they're determined to have some reason that every character is a piece of shit, even the good guys. I don't know. I really hope the final season brings it. I don't need the pointless gross out shit. I suppose it's too much to hope for a happy ending, maybe just not a tragic one?

"Idjit!" "balls"
The Boys, Supernatural and The Walking Dead are just parts of the "Bobby Singer multiverse"

This falls more into shipper talk and frustration with Kripke in general, but man, {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} I don't really care for how the whole Kimiko and Frenchie thing was handled at all. Anyone who's watched Supernatural knows Kripke can't write romance well if at all, which whatever, that usually wouldn't bother me but last season they had Frenchie and Kimiko kiss and there was this interview that Kripke did that's annoyed me ever since which... fine. I get it, there are things that I feel weird about sometimes when I write but you know what I wouldn't do? Wouldn't force myself to write it and then later on use it to potentially insult my fanbase when I know it's something they've been hoping for for years. This always just felt like they were saying "hey your ship is weird and we're going to show you how weird it is, and then let the characters really dig in deeper by telling you WHY it wouldn't happen between them" ... then after all of that, and how this season began, they made other choices with Frenchie and Kimiko's relationship that also had me confused and even more frustrated... and then last night they kissed again, and neither of them shied away from it, which was fine, but then if that was the plan all along why the interview? Why make the fanbase feel like crap if you were just going to go ahead and put them together anyway? I like Kripke's style enough to respect and usually enjoy his shows, but damn, sometimes I really do question his characterization choices. And now I'm a little suspicious that they only took that step so Kripke could add to Kimiko's trauma of Frenchie getting taken. Meh. I don't know, I'm kind of all over the place with it. Damn you, Kripke, lol.

"Idjit!" "balls" The Boys, Supernatural and The Walking Dead are just parts of the "Bobby Singer multiverse" I genuinely loved when the brothers got knocked into the 'real world' and met the real Robert singer and started riffing on him for using his name on characters.

Jensen, your workload makes my head hurt.
The Boys season 5, Tracker season 2, Countdown, and now this (not to mention every other non-acting thing this mad man has going)? Let yourself breathe sometimes, buddy.

I'm glad Aya Cash is getting brought back but man that's a lot of shows and Season 4 showed a bit of rust developing on the writing.
