Looking forward to this. The Boys was a really good comic
I don't expect it to be over the top like the comic but if done right it's going to be good

Watching for the asteroid scene alone.
That series was so wonderfully ridiculous and over the top.

Man, I'd love to actually go to this, as I've actually got passes for Friday, but I really am not a big fan of having to hoof it back uptown a half hour just to try to get into a panel that's offsite from the Javitt's Center. That's pretty much the entire day right there. :/

Karl Urban as Butcher and Anthony Starr as The Homelander are inspired choices. Wish he was starring in a Dredd series instead, but even so.

The only disappointment is that Simon Pegg won't be playing Hughie.

The only disappointment is that Simon Pegg won't be playing Hughie. On the one hand yeah, but on the other hand he's a bit too old for the part now. I think he said so himself.

Yea, despite obviously having the same look his acting range would have been good for this as his sarcastic nature would have been great here
He would have known to sell Hughie being scared shitless of the heroes while also his anger in the intense moment

"Based on the popular comics."
Well that's refreshing to see. The people funding & releasing it don't use the ol' "based on the graphic novel" tagline, which is often done to kinda dissuade the comic book aura, and flat out say "comics." Nice.
And to think this coulda, had certain things not happened once upon a time long ago, been considered a DC Universe project...

Wasn't just the first 6 issues published by DC?
Might be good,I just hope it isn't toned down too much.

Hope they keep the characters the same and still include their backstories

Also "Monkey" has to get that scene or don't include his character in the show

The Boys in the DC universe hmm Would've been horribly neutered by editorial compared to what we got. Wasn't just the first 6 issues published by DC? Yup, under the Wildstorm imprint. Even then, it was too much for the DC higher ups and they axed it after 6. Thankfully Jim Lee and a few others helped Garth Ennis & Darick Robertson get full creator rights so they could take the property elsewhere (thus began Ennis' arrangement with Dynamite) and even let Robertson work on the book despite being under exclusive contract to DC at the time.

I don't understand why Pegg is too old for the role. There's nothing that "young" about Hughie in the book. Hell, if anything age just makes this sad guy who got his first loving relationship destroyed even more sad.

Hell, if anything age just makes this sad guy who got his first loving relationship destroyed even more sad. It’s never explicitly stated but it’s implied Annie is pretty young, probably early 20s. I read Hughie as a little older (early 30s maybe), and Pegg is 48. They could change up the story some and make it work, but I think casting someone younger is the wiser choice.

Hell, if anything age just makes this sad guy who got his first loving relationship destroyed even more sad. Yea Hughie is implied to be like in his late 20s if not early 30s. He’s supposed to look younger than Mother’s Milk, Frenchie and The Butcher Sure you could have him older but I see no harm in casting someone younger to portray him. Also you have him and Blarney Cock matching up too and it would be funny to see an older man beat up on a teenager
