and now the first match in the Seniors Bracket Can't believe Mickie's not in this bracket! I love how we’ve kept this gag going for as long as we have, way longer than they did it on TV.

Not sure what Madison feels worse about: having to lose in the first round, or realizing that she has to now go back home to Josh Matthews?

OOF, I think we don’t need to be doing no One Winged Angels from the wheelbarrow hold anymore. Rayne barely had room to tuck her neck.

Like last week, the matches were aired in taping order, so next week’s matches should be as such if the pattern continues...

Deonna Purrazzo vs. Priscilla Kelly: Good match. These two had really good chemistry.
I had to say it, but Kelly does remind me of Paige. Not just look, but very talented for 21 years old.
Aerial Monroe vs. Zeuxis: This was a mess. Zeuxis is not ready for primetime. Hope her 2nd round match is better.
Monroe needs some cleaning up, but has it for sure.
Kacy Catanzaro vs. Reina Gonzalez: The visual of this match was awesome. And the match itself was fun.
Barring injury or change of mind about wrestling Kacy is a future star.
Mercedes Martinez vs. Ashley Rayne: Sloppy match I assume because Rayne was drop on her head?
Extra thoughts: Last week was much better in my opinion. I also would've change the match order of tonight ending with Kacy winning.

Deonna has a great reputation, but I’ve yet to be impressed with her based on her NXT appearances over the years (including her recent contest with Bianca). Priscilla has a great look and energy, she must be on the radar for a full time contract. Love Deonna’s theme. That chain wrestling was AWFUL...was that just me that thought that? The crowd popped but it was slow and terribly telegraphed. The backflip dropkick was cool. Overall a pretty meh match, Deonna still not impressing me, but I think they both have potential.
HATE that “big swole” nickname but Aeriel has great attitude. Her kid is adorable! Zeuxis picked an awful outfit. This looks sloppy as heck to start. Camera work is implying that stuff is getting cut out as well. “The power of Christ compels you”- Aeriel looks rough around the edges but she’s an absolute blast personality wise. Damn, that’s the best finish of the tournament so far and wow, I did not see Zeuxis being the winner. The crappy outfit kinda makes more sense now as she will have had to have brought another for round two. Oh great, make the kid cry!
Kacy and Reina have been working together on house shows for months so they should have some chemistry. Reina was utterly forgettable last year and has been struggling to find the right gimmick/look on the NXT Florida circuit. Kacy, on the other hand, debuted on house shows SUPER early and has been getting rave reviews for her athleticism. This seems like it’ll be a showcase for Kacy. The video of Reina doesn’t really line up with what happened in last years MYC. Haha, awesome entrance for Kacy. Kacy looks like a child in there. Reina is quite like early Tamina; she has size and strength but the dots aren’t quite connecting yet. Yep, Kacy’s athleticism is exactly what everyone said, very impressive. That springboard dropkick was brushed over (and didn’t even get a replay) but was probably the most impressive thing I’ve seen in the tournament so far. Deceptively cool. Haha, loved the post match. A little/large tag team between the two would be cool for NXT.
Mercedes was a standout in last years MYC, looking on another level from 90% of the other girls. It’s cool to see Ashley in a WWE environment, though it will be hard not to call her Madison. Still weird seeing Impact pictures. Best match of this episode by far, I think Satomura/Kelly was better but this was really solid. Shame the fans didn’t really get behind Ashley. That brainbuster was nasty. I understand why they do it, but it feels like a waste to have this match in the first round and one of these two has to be eliminated so early. Could have gone either way, but I like Mercedes advancing again. Hope Ashley gets to stick around; even though she’s still quite young she’s a veteran that would be very handy to have around in NXT for the newer girls. Both women should stick around for that reason in fact.
Overall I thought the first two matches were kinda rough, Kacy/Reina was a lot of fun and Mercedes/Rayne was really solid. Probably equal enjoyment to last weeks episode.
Random thoughts: •Michael Cole is doing a good job at steering the less experienced Beth Phoenix and Renee Young, and I say that as someone who hates his commentary (yes, I still thought he sucked at Beast in the East and any other non-Vince produced shows). While I’d much prefer Mauro to be commentating, I don’t think he’d be helping Renee and Beth as much as Cole is. Beth is gaining confidence and could be really good one day. •Don’t like Kayla Braxton as a ring announcer. These kind of gigs are given to gain experience, I get that, but I thought you could tell Jojo and Brandi Rhodes (for example) had potential right of the bat, I’m not getting anything from Kayla. •The list of talents in the crowd continues to be really random. Undisputed Era? Samoa Joe? Not a negative, but just unusual choices.
