yeah i think i know what the problem was with the DC cinema universe ..... the DC television universe! having the same IP doing two different things was and will NEVER WORK Modern DC is almost literally built on the foundation of a multiverse. Different universes on TV and in cinemas are a playground of ideas. Sadly a combination of egos and logistics keep them separate. If someone at DC/WB had balls, they'd build on all these different interpretations (beyond just the current movies and TV shows too - hi Keaton, hi Hackman, hi Lynda Carter, hi Timmverse) and head us toward a Crisis on Infinite Earths movie with EVERYONE (or as many folks they can gather from those other iterations) involved.

Not at all. He'd be a great choice. Just sayin he already got backlash once. We're at a point now that backlash from people who don't want non-whites in traditionally white roles, or women in traditionally male roles, is just showing the ignorance of those causing the issue. It's the kind of backlash that needs to be pushed through, dealt with and eradicated. That's not a backlash that needs to be feared anymore.

If that led to a scene with as many of them coming together and during a speech, "Holy crisis, Batman!" is shouted and the camera turns to show a 73-year old Burt Ward in a Robin outfit, I'd be all for it.

And WB may honestly have considered him before, it just feels like a real P.R. move that we hear both Cavil is gone, they may want Jordan within literaly an hour of each other.

The DCEU has been ultraf***ed from the start and sending Cavill off when he's at his biggest is the most DCEU thing to do. With no Batman and no Superman--and in the process most of the character build the universe has had down the drain--it's going to be real f***ing clumsy trying to course correct on this without spending some years trying to sell a soft reboot or something. They've consistently made the worst decision almost every step of the way and it's a f***ing miracle they didn't reshoot and recut Wonder Woman to hell trying to "fix it". They tried to ape Marvel with none of the internal elements that let Marvel make their universe a success.

My general reaction to anything involving the DCEU is "Huh, no surprise.". It's been a shitshow since it was conceived and Wonder Woman turning out as well as it did was probably the best we're getting from it.

We don't need to see Krypton explode or Thomas and Martha gunned down for the zillionth time... Want to make a Batman and Superman or Justice League Movie? Just f***ing do it... people know who Batman and Superman are... and Wonder Woman is known enough that you can go over her origin in a sentence if you needed to. But if you are going to do that... make sure the characters... ACT like the characters they're supposed to be. and don't start with hey let's make Dark Knight Returns the entry point into our universe because it makes no f***ing sense to start at the end of Batman's career.

DC could have been really ahead of the curve realizing that people were kind of worn out on origin movies and starting with something better. But if they wanted to actually do something good they wouldn't have put the franchise in the hands of Goyer and Snyder, so f*** do I know? They thought "Let's do the worst possible iteration of Superman's origin story and have him kill a dude" was a good foundation for their universe.,

In related news, Henry Cavill's mustache has confirmed it will be sticking with WB. It was overheard saying that: "too many people had worked tirelessly to edit me out of Justice League. It's unconscionable to leave them at this point when there's so many other movies in this franchise I could be edited out of."

Someone on Twitter has argued with me that it's not possible for a 'self respecting Superman fan' could say that JL version was definitive.
I'm all "yuh huh" plus ya know Christopher Reeve..
The response "you proved yall just want Reeve! Blah blah blah.." And how modern Superman shouldn't be'corny' and all this.
Bah.

And don't tell me it won't work when Marvel's boy scout is part of some of the best movies on that side.

His movies sucked but that's not at all on him. When he actually got to play the part properly, like that bathtub scene in BvS or the stuff in Justice League, he was excellent.

I really think the best course of action for DC at this point is to trim the budgets on Aquaman and Shazam as much as they possibly can at this point and only make plans to do more with them if they succeed anyway, ride Wonder Woman out for a trilogy, and otherwise just go silent for a few years before trying an outright new universe.
This one's just too busted to fix at this point. You could still turn around the quality of it certainly but at a point when, comparatively, barely anyone even bothered with a Justice League movie, it's just never going to at all reach the heights it could have.
