I don't know if legend is a strong enough word to describe Super Calo.

I remember on the 9/23/96 Nitro that either Tony or Eric said that Calo got hurt in the dark match before the show went on the air, interested in seeing this one and hope they put out more rare WCW matches.
EDIT: Yeah that was pretty bad, looked like he came down awkwardly on his elbow/shoulder and they had to go to the finish right after, damn.

The Mysterio/Calo match is in broadcast quality and has multiple cameras shooting it. It looks like something that actually aired on Nitro, just with no commentary. For some reason, a lot of the WWE dark matches that get released look like VHS tapes dubbed in SLP mode and also have a time code on screen (plus were not shot at ringside, just from the hard camera).

I noticed that too. In the chaos that was WCW, I'm surprised they put that much care into a match that they didn't think anyone outside of the crowd would see.

I wish they would show more of the post-show stuff, they did a few with the 1996 Nitros where you actually see the Horsemen get the better of the nWo in Charlotte and run them off on the 12/9/96 episode. I liked it because this was before WCW starting turning the momentum in the WCW/nWo war.

Well alot of those WWE shows were taped and I'm guessing because Nitro was live every week this was the best way to test the production elements. I mean during those taped WWE programs of the late 80s early 90s I doubt they had a dynamic live arena broadcast to show the crowd.

Can't help but notice both update lists in this thread are very focused on luchadores and other Latin workers. Is it a specific theme they're doing right now, or just how it worked out? Pretty neat regardless. Did Konnan still have his hair at this point?

It's definitely a theme. Last week's theme was shooters and they included matches with Lou Thesz, Danny Hodge, Nobuhiko Takada, and Billy Robinson. This week it's about Hispanic stars.

I had no idea el hijo Del santo was in WWE let alone on super astros. I’d love for all those to be uploaded
