Yeah, I liked the first episode, and always cool to see Kumail show some range beyond his usual deadpan, but it was WAY longer than it needed to be.

Kumail’s acting was great in the first episode, even though the comedy wasnt very good and as others said , it ran too long

Yeah, for me the middle dragged a little in the first episode because it felt like they stretched out the main character's discovery of the premise and the rules/what was happening to the point where I found myself thinking...  But it was all well acted and shot terrifically, and overall I did like what they were going for. It just needed something more to add to it in the middle. Hoping the rest of the season is better than the first episode, which I have heard it is. |

I’ll check out the second episode tonight. First one kind of tired me out and even though the next is supposed to be better, I’ve seen that story twice before, three if you count the Simpsons.

It’s a completely different take if that helps. Ok I watched it. That was MUCH better. The time flew by compared to the Comedian which just dragged on. I did get to the twist right before it happened but it was still enjoyable. Though I was bugged by not figuring out where I have seen Adam Scott before. Haven’t seen much of his filmography. So maybe I’m just nuts or he really, really looks like another actor. |

I've since seen a good amount of stuff he's been in but for the longest time when I couldn't remember his name I called him 'budget Tom Cruise'. |

So is this new series running solely on hour long episodes?
Because.........those original TZ hour-longs are not usually regarded as the great ones...
The half hour format worked much better; alas, modern TV and movie making seem to prefer the longer runtimes, to take their time for sake of the scripts and cinematography and what not, so I can imagine them feeling rushed if it's just 30 mins.

This. The original series is one of the all time great American cultural achievements partly because the format required the writing to be super direct. An extra half hour usually isn’t going to make the commentary hit any harder. |

It seems like they're going between 35 minutes to an hour. The "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" remake was closer to a half hour and benefited from it, even if the last minute or two were unnecessary to me. This week's episode also gets a little long in the tooth but plays it off much better than "The Comedian." It is pretty heavy-handed but in the same way that some of the preachier Serling episodes did so, it wasn't a big deal to me.

Space and Crave TV have rights to ST: Disco, Space also has Titans and Doom Patrol so I’m thinking it might end up there. I want to check it out. I hope he can balance the horror/fantasty/sci-fi side of TTS with the, for lack of a better term, more quiet human side of the series.
