Where is this show in the canon timeline in terms of its closeness to the Battle of Jakku? If it hasn’t happened yet, then it’s weird we didn’t see either Rae Sloane and Gallius Rax on the Shadow Council. The Battle of Jakku takes place five years after A New Hope. The Mandalorian's first season takes place nine years after A New Hope. The current season is apparently two years after that. So then Gallius Rax is dead by this point. Gotcha.

The only issue with the Armorer turning cloak is why. Yeah. Plus Gideon was genuinely surprised to discover the Nite Owls and Din's covert working together. If the Armorer is an Imperial loyalist, she's not his loyalist.

I can't see the Armorer secretly working with the butcher of Mandalore. Thrawn on the other hand?

We don't even need to go that far back, the literal first episode of this show starred Carl Weathers, Nick Nolte, Taika Waititi and Werner freaking Herzog. And that's before you go into future guest stars like Timothy Olyphant, Kumail Nanjiani, Richard Ayoade, Mark Hamill, Rosario Dawson, I can go on. One difference is the latter group consists of regular/recurring characters. At this point, Black, Lizzo and Lloyd may seem like stunt casting for a cheap pop. Perception may change if any of those three return. Even if it's stunt casting, Jack Black was the perfect casting for that role.

I’m pretty certain the Armorer was at least a member of Maul’s Shadow Collective

I can't see the Armorer secretly working with the butcher of Mandalore. Thrawn on the other hand? Working with an insider to take both the Mandalorians and Gideon out in one fell swoop would be a Thrawn move.

The ones you've linked to here are clearly correct. But it doesn't really make sense to me to occur this way around. That means that by the time of the Mandalorian, the majority of the Imperial remnants should be hiding out in the Unknown Regions and quietly working on building things back up again. That doesn't really track with the conversation at the start of this week's episode of The Mandalorian where they very much have a presence in lesser space still. It really seemed like Mando was building up to that decisive battle to get rid of the Imperials for good, which as far as we know so far, was the Battle of Jakku. Oh well. I'm sure that Filoni has the whole thing figured out and knows how the timeline works better than I do.

Man I hope with Thrawn has Maarek Stele with them... Mostly I just want somebody that isn't a complete chump compared to the Mandalorians in their fighters...!
I also hope that Thrawn isn't the one who founds the First Order because it seems kinda antithetical to the way he ran stuff in the past...
I also have to wonder why they were banking on him at all, since presumably he has been gone since before a New Hope since that is when Rebels takes place.

I also have to wonder why they were banking on him at all, since presumably he has been gone since before a New Hope since that is when Rebels takes place. I read an interview with Timothy Zahn around the time his new canon books were coming out. Thrawn's personal philosophy is that an Empire is a necessarily evil as the unity and order allows the galaxy to better defend against far greater threats that he's seen in the Unknown Regions like the Grysk. The old Republic he was exposed to was chaotic and corrupt. According to Zahn, if the New Republic proved itself to be a stabilizing force for the galaxy without the baggage of the old Republic, he'd back off.
I don't know if the New Republic ever achieved that standard for Thrawn. Now if he'd go along with the First Order, I'm not sure. He might be dead by the time they really made their move against the Republic with Starkiller Base. Pellaeon probably wouldn't if he's anything like his Legends counterpart.

According to the same account that has correctly leaked the runtimes of every episode this season, the finale runs 38 minutes including credits.

Is this the last season?
That kinda felt like a show closer. Manadalorians regain their home, Moff Gideon finally defeated, Mando adopts Grogu and gets a nice house.

That felt like a series finale.
The only loose end would be that the rest of the Manalorians haven't seen the Mythosaur. Only Bo and Grogu have interacted with it.

You know, it can be hard to take Gideon seriously since he shares the same name with the Gravity Falls character.

That felt like them tightening up the loose ends to open the Dins up for Rangers of the New Republic.
Perhaps they'll replace Cara Dune.
