Remember kids: Freedom of speech is not freedom from consequence. You can say whatever you like, but other people have the right to judge you based on that and end their association with you.

Disney will be really worried about all those totally legitimate twitter accounts created an hour ago threatening to boycott the company.

It really says a lot that we've reached the point where firing someone for saying, "Disagreeing with my political stances is just like the Holocaust!" is controversial.
F*** this idiot.

It still baffles me that people think that writing something on Twitter is like putting it in their diary. It's publishing it online for the world to see. If you wouldn't want it put up on a billboard in the middle of town, don't put it online. And heck, even if you are the sort of person who doesn't care about expressing horrible things, it doesn't mean other people have to go along with it. They're perfectly within their rights to not want to work with you.

They believe they can stand there, issue decrees from on high and receive no pushback for any of bthe awful things they say, and any hecklers will be drowned out by people who worship the ground she walks on.

*walks into the thread*
Gina's gone? I liked the character. What could she have possibly said?
*2 minutes later*
That'll do it.

And people are free to make their own standards as to what's acceptable and what isn't under certain umbrellas. You don't have to wear pants for instance, but you'd better if the rule at the place you're at says you have to.

As for "cancel culture"...I don't know. People who say hurtful things should be punished indeed (moreso if it leads to them doing hurtful actions). But what about things that were products of their time and aren't actively doing anything to anyone? Or didn't necessarily mean to be hurtful? I don't doubt some things back then WERE meant to do that, though. But...?

Oh, but she wasn't saying that she was just "comparing the dehumanization of people like ber to the Jews." Oh and "Disney has no right to fire her because they pander to China." For added humor read that in your best Jim Sterling funny voice.

Gina Carano is an imbecile. That's basically all I have to say.

I mean, nobody is saying those should be wiped out (and the removal of episodes from streaming services weren't actually done for any reason except "they might offend someone") and nobody is saying those people who weren't total assholes should be too but it's much better to learn from it and take it for what it was rather than what it is now. Learn from that shit is what I'm saying. I also don't really know what that has to do with this topic in particular where it's perfectly clear what Gina was fired for.

Disney will be really worried about all those totally legitimate twitter accounts created an hour ago threatening to boycott the company. But they're still reeling from that massive boycott after they fired Roseanne Barr! However will they cope?

Focusing on the past has no bearing on the stupid shit she said today in real time And to bite on the things said in the past, if you said stupid shit 20 years ago but haven't repeated it then you have shown some growth. If you are still repeating said stupid things over this time, your ass is grass. It is pretty simple
