Such a brilliant line. I really, really love Jon Favreau as a creative anything. Kinda sucks I’ve see some “hardcore” Star Wars fans give it shit or call it lazy. I think it’s walking the line between acknowledging popular Star Wars aspects while being its own thing just fine. There will always be a sect of Star Wars fans that aren't satisfied no matter what, either it'll be too derivative of the original source material or it's "Not Their Star Wars!" because George Lucas didn't pen it in 1976. You can see this as far back as the beginning's of Star Wars, when people would say the same things about The Empire Strikes Back and Return of The Jedi, and the blossoming of the EU (as ridiculous as that is) in fan zines and fan letters, and even on earlier stages of the internet if you go digging. It's just inherently apart of the fanbase as sad as that is to say. To try to please every single Star Wars fan with every piece of Star Wars media that comes out is a fruitless venture and not one that I tend to dwell on (as it isn't my problem). I like what I like of Star Wars, and personally I like The Mandalorian.

The thing I've liked so far about The Mandalorian (besides our sweet and precious Baby Yoda) is the brief but fascinating looks into the cultures of the various aliens and societies that are outliers in the base universe. It's world building and character development that I'm always fascinated with when it comes to Star Wars. Seeing how Mandalorians operate in their religion and out in the Galaxy, how Jawas steal, then do business, then (disgustingly) eat, Kuiil's ethics and motivation in helping The Mandalorian, and how ready the IG units are to self destruct when they are threatened. All in just 2 episodes. It's really fun to watch.

So I've watched the 3rd episode and that scene with the other Mandalorians showing up nearly brought a tear to my eye. It's exactly the sort of thing I imagined when thinking how the prequels might be back before they came out.

Holy crap that 3rd episode was amazing. I enjoyed the first 2 episodes a lot but that was something else. So good.

The big thing about episode 3 that made me go “ Huh. That’s interesting.” is when Mano goes to reclaim The Child, the Doctor is pleading to him to not kill him.

f*** I love Mandalorian. For any talk of things looking “cheap”, the scene with The Mandalorians looked (and felt) incredible.
- When Mando turned the ship off my reaction was “OHH f***”.
- My heart f***ing melted at the end when he gives the baby the stupid thing.
- “I’ve gotta get me one of those” was hilarious.
Shout out to the score which is definitely its own thing, but feint allusions here and there are wonderful. I haven’t felt this way about a series since Daredevil S1. It’s fun. It’s emotional, it’s funny from time to time. This is Star Wars. Also question if anyone knows, is Pascal actually in the suit doing scenes or is it just voice work?

Let me preface this by saying I’m not a big Star Wars fan by any means (I think I’ve seen all of the movies and I liked them), but holy hell, I love this show.
Three episodes and they’ve all been completely different in tone and they’ve all been killer.
I want to know more about virtually every single character we’ve come across so far.
I’m so impressed.

This show is making me so happy. I didn't care for The Force Awakens, and I hate The Last Jedi so much it raises my blood pressure, so seeing new Star Wars made with so much clear passion for fitting in with the original trilogy is exactly my speed.

Star Wars apologists won’t like me saying this but The Mandalorian has made Star Wars cool again. I haven’t seen a Star Wars project so universally loved since Rogue One. This show is so addictive. I’m glad it wasn’t a movie and there’s so much more to come. I’m looking forward to the next episode.

Loved the third episode. Show is so refreshing. It’s just Nixe to see Star Wars that looks and feels like it’s in the Star Wars universe. Each episode gives you just enough to keep you wanting more.

Can we put the team behind The Mandalorian in charge of the next Star Wars trilogy, please.
Awesome show. That scene when the other Mandalorian's emerged to save Mando was awesome.
The only negative is, it's plot doesn't seem like it's gonna be original--seems like it's basically Logan crossed with John Wick 3 (The bounty scene was clearly taken straight from John Wick 3) set in Star Wars. But it's so well done, the settings so good and the characters so interesting that it's fine.

And a bit of the Jason Statham with the baby spots from Fate of the Furious but I don’t care either because it’s so well done. I knew the John Wick scene too but I still popped for it. Carl Weathers is 71 and came off like a younger legit badass. For a guy in a mask the Mandalorian manages to express his emotions very well. This show is so good.

Glad he lived. I agree about Mando and his expressed emotions. Think that’s Pascal but also the directors and team behind it. And yes, yes, I need Favreau and this team to do more Star Wars shit like now. Like..it shouldn’t be this fresh for Star Wars material to get (for the most part) critical and fan acclaim. Should be how it is.

If Kathleen Kennedy is the brains of Star Wars, Dave Filoni is the heart of it. And has been since Clone Wars. Everything he touches regarding the franchise has so much love poured into it by him.
