Throw this shit in Marvel’s face, Gunn. But with DC, define shit... DC taking a director away from Marvel, though! Nothing could go wrong, right? I will wait for you to Return with an answer. The difference is Gunn will be writing and directing his own movie, while Whedon was brought in to polish a mostly complete, unwatchable turd.

Nah, let's go a bit more obscure. King Shark making his live-action movie debut. Not that obscure. He's been on the CW TV shows a few times. How's about Punch & Jewelee, Mindboggler and Duchess..... ;p

DC didn’t take him away. Marvel tossed him to the curb and DC would score with a pick-up like this. Maybe "taking away" was the wrong description. But point is, hiring ex-Marvel talent isn't the quick fix you might think, no matter how good the director or etc. is. And this isn't a new thing with Justice League either....I did kinda put a clue in my first response (pay attention to capitalization ;-))

(Yes, I remember MB well, being a Firestorm villain first...)

Lots of people liked Guardians movies and only so many liked the JL movie. So I would pick up a director that people liked too, and knows the comic movie world. Seems like smart business to me. Its like if I ran Wendys and needed a new GM and one who ran McDonalds successfully for a few years became available, I might try to sign him up

Makes that movie's prospects much more interesting.
Marvel caved to fringe idiots way too easily.

I mean...DC did take Patty Jenkins after she left Marvel and that lead to their most critically acclaimed and profitable movie to date. So it’s not a bad strategy...

The only real surprise about Gunn being brought on board is that he's working on a sequel rather than launching a new franchise for them.

If SS2 fails then they can just cut their losses, move on from Gunn and probably call it a wrap on the Squad movies. If a new franchise fails then they possibly botch a new franchise.

Sif was stated to have survived Ragnorok... and I believe the snap... Of course, the Snap's gonna be undone, so it doesn't mean much in the long term. Unless Sif never gets used again, of course. I'd love to see Sif come back, but if she ever does, they might have to cast someone new for her. I think the reason she didn't even show up in Thor 3 is because Alexander had other obligations.

I hope Gunn brings back the John Osternann early Suicide Squad vibe, that they were a black ops agency instead of psychos. Please somehow get Michael B Jordan as Bronze Tiger.

Its like if I ran Wendys and needed a new GM and one who ran McDonalds successfully for a few years became available, I might try to sign him up Happens in sports all the time. It happens in most industries. Experience is very important for things to be more efficient and why it’s sometimes hard for new talent to come in for them to take a risk on. Like, for all the flaws of the end of his reign, Michael Eisner wasn’t a relation to Walt Disney when he ran Disney, heck he ran Paramount Pictires, and it lead to some of its most profitable years before the present day.

{Spoiler}{Spoiler}So putting cast members of The Incredible Hulk on the bus, then? Thanks, Universal! :-) But what I really hope, er, want to know is...Darcy snapped out of existence or not? /You can take "MJ" with her too. //Enough with the hipster chicks, MCU!

Look at JL and before, Superman Returns (yes, I'd take SR over the SnyderSupes, but businesswise it too didn't set the world on fire...)

Makes that movie's prospects much more interesting. Marvel caved to fringe idiots way too easily. I dunno if it was so much Marvel as it was Alan Horn at Disney. Iger's close to the end of his tenure and was on vacation. Horn made the call out of knee jerk reaction and Iger has to back him or the company looks weaker, I guess.
