Did anyone ever tell the Warrior he wasn't facing "Ho Kogan" at WM VI in 1990? Maybe he heard Zeus say it and figured that was his name.

I initially thought Asuka was Ah-soo-ka, and Shinsuke was Shin-soo-kay.
(On Irish names - I only found out earlier this year Niamh is pronounced Neve, and I was angry about it for hours.)

I have a friend who insists on saying Mark Hendry no matter how often he is corrected. Just imagined The Worlds Strongest Man having the same gimmick as Joe Hendry.

In the Apter mags I'd always read 'Gagne' as 'Gag-nee'.
I also had a friend pronounce Zeus as Zezuz and, not quite a mispronunciation, but another friend who called Shawn Michaels ' Shawn McMichaels'.

Pretty much everyone mispronounced Killer Kowalski - in Polish, the letter W is pronounced V and the W sound is represented by the letter ł.

The Heart Break Kid is appropo and that don't mean you're digging round in the dirt with farm implements baby!

Kovalski - It's the Polish equivalent of Smith. The L is the same in English and not the Polish letter Ł, which represents the w sound in Polish.

I think it was Howard Finkel but sometimes it sounded like he was introducing “Racer Remoan”

Portugese pronunciations are weird. God help us if they get some really Irish names going. I wanted Becky Lynch to be named Niamh Ó Súilleabháin and have interviewers ask her how to pronounce it ‘Just like it’s spelled, you daft bastard!’ I actually have a friend called Niamh, and despite usually being good at Irish names (to the point that I get annoyed by all the variations of the name Caitlin because none of them are even pronounced right), when she told me it was Neve I actually asked her how.

When I was a teenager and first started watching wrestling, I would have told you that the Chris guy who was always feuding with the Dungeon of Doom was named Chris Menwah. Not sure how it was I watched wrestling for quite a few months before seeing it in writing for the first time.

Another Dibiase screwup: When I was a kid I thought they were pronouncing Ted Dibiase "DI-BE-AH-SI-TY" so I would abide by that, and even correct my friends when they were saying it right in the first place.
I have a super casual fan friend who I had to correct after spelling Mick Foley "McFoley" and calling Daniel Bryan "Daniel Bryant."

Not a wrestler, but I used to say
Muhameda-hamedall-hamedall-hamedall-ee
instead of "Muhammed Ali"

I thought a couple wrestlers had different names thanks to the Apter mags when I was a kid. A big thing that I always looked forward to in those was reading about title changes or arena results. I read Jushin Thunder Riger and Frankie Kazaran in those mags for about a year before I’d actually seen them myself and then realized they were being spelled incorrectly. It took me a little while to get used to calling them Liger and Kazarian. I guess the people printing the mags seen them around the same time I did because they were corrected around the same time too. I called him Justin Liger for years.

At any point, did you ever think someone's name (wrestler, manager, etc) was pronounced a different way than it actually is? I used to think Ole Anderson's name was "Ol'", like how old is sometimes said. :x Hence the origin of my screenname!

A few Japanese ones, the pronunciation of Shinsuke caught me off guard. However I have a friend who is notorious for it, still insists on calling Marty Scurll 'Marty Scroll' and Ted DiBiase 'Ted De-Bee-See' despite hearing both pronounced correctly countless times. Yeah it bothers me every time I see ASUKA's name written out...

As someone who didn't get AW on TV and only ever saw the name written, my younger self thought it was Verne Gag-nee.
