Devil's advocate on Brainbustaaah, that was clearly his first in character response, so some of the stuff he was saying, accusations, dancing to your tune, that could have been more him acting his part then actual suspicious behavior. Yeeeeah, you might be right, now that I go back and read it again. I didn't consider that. Even so, posting "in character" doesn't change your alignment. You're still accountable for the things you say in the thread. Brainbustah's response to my questions will definitely be helpful in figuring out whether I'm on the right track or not.
While typing in-character is fun, it’s also clearly detrimental to the communication process. Guess it’s by the wayside. Most of that was character work-up, but it’s phrasing like “until he does something I like” that bugs me. Taking point is fine and good, but no matter the intent it still stings to get the first vote thrown your way. First day’s always the toughest with Mafia.

The problem with being that aggressive this early is that if you're Town, you may be inadvertently raising suspicion that you're scum, and if you're scum you may be bringing a lot of unwanted suspicion on yourself. I'm leaning towards you being the former but it's pretty tenuous.

To raise questions when silence surrounds is a necessity. If not the esteemed Brainbustah, who should we direct our inquiries upon in his stead?

I was pondering on my way back from Mr Wallace Mart General Store about the grisly news and it got me thinking maybe I should be more suspicious of those passing me on the street, could I be next?
Then again those bread prices! A 3penny loaf! That’s outrageous!!

This makes me want to wear an onion on my belt, I fashion this must be the style at the time. The only people on my radar are skull and brainbustahhhh... just because day 1 is usually wide open and a weird day. skull came out hard and fast, could that be because he is a villain and wants us to embrace him? Or is that because he truly trying to rile up the game and get our villains to out themselves? As for brainbustaaah, i felt a bit of defensiveness coming from his way, could this because he is a villain? Or perhaps, just a paranoid town member? OR, could this be a ploy that both skull and brainbustahh are in-cahoots and trying to get the rest of the town to side with one or the other... and then the surviving member of this treacherous team kills us off one by one! Or perhaps, I have just drank too much scotch this morning.

Whomever may be behind this grisly crime, it is clear that we are no longer safe. My spirit rises in seeing how quickly we have worked to find the deviants and grow closer as a town.

Why vote for him already? He hasn't had a chance to reply. No finger's yet but dude. Hey now, you keep your fingers to yourself, mister. We haven't even gone on our first date yet. Anyway, this is just a random vote to get things moving. What am I going to accomplish by sitting on my vote? If you're Town, you only have two weapons at your disposal on Day 1: your voice and your vote. If you aren't using one of your only weapons, then you aren't being very useful. For that reason, I like to keep my vote on someone at all times.
If Brainbustah does something that I like, then I'll move my vote to someone else. Until then, it's fine where it is.
I have a question for you now. You were clearly taken aback by my vote on Brainbustah and you expressed suspicion of me. Why didn't you vote for me?
(ooc: Sorry about how long it took to reply, Real Life and Red Dead 2 ) I can understand your feeling of needing to act, but I am of the mind of giving everyone we know a chance to explain themselves before making rash decisions. Quite simple, we get one vote and I don't feel the need to be one whose vote bounces from person to person. I will vote when I feel the time is right. With tears in my eyes, I can only gasp at the killing, I hoped to spend the day alone or if I could, with a friend, but with this travesty, that may not be. I hope the killer or killers are brought to justice. I may still partake because of it. Indeed. Such a gruesome discovery can give one pause. You could lose your appetite or, indeed, thirst. Do you frequent the George or, perhaps, the Ten Bells? I can't say I frequent any particular establishment. I do enjoy my peace and quiet with my drink, but I won't turn down company as I do. As for now, nothing has been said other then by skull that makes me suspicious. I'm willing to look elsewhere for now that everyone's had a chance to speak.

Taking point is fine and good, but no matter the intent it still stings to get the first vote thrown your way. First day’s always the toughest with Mafia. I just meant that I'd move my vote somewhere else if you did something that made me think that you were Town. I probably should have worded that better. Sorry for not picking up that you were in-character in your last post. That was my bad. I bypassed the whole typing-in-character fluff phase because I wanted to get down to business. As I mentioned in my first post, it's been a few years since my last game of Mafia, so I'm just excited to be playing again. Sounds like you have some Mafia experience yourself. How would you characterize your usual Day 1 strategy? Yeeeeah, you might be right, now that I go back and read it again. I didn't consider that. Even so, posting "in character" doesn't change your alignment. You're still accountable for the things you say in the thread. Brainbustah's response to my questions will definitely be helpful in figuring out whether I'm on the right track or not.
The problem with being that aggressive this early is that if you're Town, you may be inadvertently raising suspicion that you're scum, and if you're scum you may be bringing a lot of unwanted suspicion on yourself. I'm leaning towards you being the former but it's pretty tenuous. I'm not worried about people thinking I'm Scum. If nothing else, it will give everyone something to latch onto. I have no problem being the topic of discussion if it means that it gets players to stop sitting around playing patty-cake and start talking. The more we talk, the easier it is to gather information. The more information we have, the easier it will be to catch the Mafia. It sounds like you feel that aggression is inherently a Scum characteristic. Is this true? If so, what makes you think this way? And if that's not what you're saying, then why do you think that being aggressive makes me look scummy? In your experience, what is the connection between alignment and aggression? 3 penny that is like 2 more pennies then I have. This makes me want to wear an onion on my belt, I fashion this must be the style at the time. The only people on my radar are skull and brainbustahhhh... just because day 1 is usually wide open and a weird day. skull came out hard and fast, could that be because he is a villain and wants us to embrace him? Or perhaps, I have just drank too much scotch this morning. This post really rubs me the wrong way, and I don't think it's a simple misunderstanding like last time. You're casting suspicion on both Brainbustah and myself without choosing a side or taking any definitive stance one way or the other. It looks like you're trying to fan the flames from the sidelines and waiting to see which side gains traction before committing to anything. You even floated the possibility that Brainbustah and I are Mafia teammates. You're really keeping all of your options open here, aren't you? I think this is worth exploring. Unvote Vote: Bear. Meat. And, again, I haven't made any indication that I expect players to "embrace" me. What did I say or do that made you think I was trying to do this? I'm just here to do my thing, and everyone else can form their own opinion of me in their own time.
If you flip Scum, then I would feel pretty confident about Brainbustah being Town. Quite simple, we get one vote and I don't feel the need to be one whose vote bounces from person to person. I will vote when I feel the time is right. I would hardly call my vote a "rash decision." It takes six votes to hammer and we were still on page 1. He was never in any danger, especially considering how reluctant everyone here seems to be about voting. We get one vote, yes, but we can move it as often as we like. Waiting for everyone to speak isn't going to accomplish anything without some votes out there to put pressure on people. The Mafia players aren't going to say or do anything incriminating if they're under no pressure and nobody suspects them. We have to find them. When do you feel that the time will be right to vote for someone? Sometime before Day 1 ends, I hope.

Something funky happened with that last quote. Let's try this again. Quite suspisious that you try to jump on those for whom the wound is freshest... I feel that our good townsman may be drying his tears with company of a similar strip as the dearly departed. I Myself am not immune to dalliance with the class. I do wonder at whom holds his attention at this moment in time.

I do think that our villains are sitting back watching us right now. If I were to guess, I’d say one of them is active, at the moment.
Skull, I can’t really quote you on mobile, but I refute your claim as me being Mafia scum. I wanted to put all thoughts out there. I am noticing that the vote was pretty quick on me, when I even brought up the idea that you could be scum.
Interesting development, don’t you think?
