He couldn't even pitch that much because his arm was on borrowed time since like, 3 weeks into the season.

He couldn't even pitch that much because his arm was on borrowed time since like, 3 weeks into the season. He pitched 51.2 innings for the season and had a 3.32 ERA and 63 SO's
His hitting BA .285, OBP .361, SLG .564, 22 HRs, 61 RBI, and 10 SB
He had a case for ROY as a hitter but he would have obviously lost to Torres or Andujar but it's the pitching that puts him over the top even if it was only a sample size

Ohtani winning ROTY is a crock. If he didn't have the pitching on his side it no doubt should have went to either Andujar or Torres Will see how CY Young turns out because imo they should go to Blake Snell and Jacob DeGrom MVP should be Mookie Betts and Christain Yelich
The only one of those 4 that I think may not win is Snell. The innings could keep voters from voting for him, and give the award to Kluber or Verlander.

Verlander or Kluber aren’t incorrect choices either but I think Snell should win but my gut says it will be Kluber. Those other 3 picks though should be close to locks. Baez May sneak a win for MVP but Yelich got so hot for the last half of the season you can’t deny him. Dude finished a home run and 2 RBI shy of a triple crown. Yes HRs, RBIs and BA are “old fashioned” but I Def don’t subscribe to the Brian Kenny theory of a triple crown being overrated

Snitker & Melvin win Manager of the year awards. Melvin Winning is silly and wrong Kevin Cash invented the concept of the opener that Bob Melvin used in the Wild Card Game. Cash also got a middling team that had no right being over .500 to to win 90 games. How he didn’t win the Manager of the Year award is baffling. When it comes to being awarded for inventing revolutionary concepts in baseball, Kevin Cash is the Winklevoss twins and Bob Melvin is Mark Zuckerberg.

Y'all seem to forget that Oakland was supposed to be as bad as Tampa
Cash or Melvin winning I had no problem with though Cora can say he didn't get enough love to. Yes, they were expected to be good but they were better than good and practically the best team in the league from beginning to end which lead to a record season from a rookie coach

Yes, they were expected to be good but they were better than good and practically the best team in the league from beginning to end which lead to a record season from a rookie coach I'm alright with Alex Cora not winning American League Manager of the Year because, for one, I thought Kevin Cash deserved the honor, but also because the 2018 Red Sox were a juggernaut that everyone expected to be a World Series contender. It's not like he took some .500 team to 108 wins, they were a force to begin with and he knew how to get them to all play to their potential. Had the vote also taken postseason baseball into consideration, then there's no doubt the award should have belonged to Cora. From Game 1 of the ALDS to Game 5 of the World Series, Cora pushed every right button, played every card correctly, and managed each game like it was a must-win situation, and it led to an 11-3 postseason record and a dominant run to the World Series championship. But because the award is exclusively for the regular season, I'm more comfortable with Cash winning because he took a lousy team to 90 wins and invented the opener, a concept which will be used by several teams in the years to come.

Snell wins the AL Cy Young, Verlander finishes second.
Jacob deGrom wins the NL Cy Young easily with 29 first place votes, Scherzer got the other first place vote and finished second.

I'm not saying Cora should have automatically won, i'm just saying he shouldn't be discounted because of the team he had. He had a World Series ready team but he still imo had them perform over expectation and led the Red Sox to the most wins in their history
However, because of the seasons from Oakland and Rays both who were destined to finish at the bottom of their division with teams that were World Series favorites you had to consider them first
I still agree with the Melvin pick. Oakland did not have a Cy Young type performer in their pitching staff and that was pieced together with players like Edwin Jackson having a resurgent season. Tampa had a great last month that steam rolled them to the 90 wins but Oakland had a great whole 2nd half and was up there with Boston in terms of wins

MLB just signed a deal with Fox for $5.1 billion.
I guess business isn’t that bad for baseball nowadays.

For me, that was the only real choice for this one. Honestly, this should been his 2nd MVP
Felt they gave one to Trout a few years ago that Mookie deserved

Agreed.. Betts had more hits, home runs, rbis and a higher batting average than Trout but they gave it to him anyway because they introduced WAR to try to make superstars.
Ortiz should have been #1 or #2 that year behind or ahead of Betts too.

As great as Mike Trout is and he's no doubt the best player in the game, I feel they try to justify a little too hard his cases for MVP and that year in general I felt strongly Mookie should have walked away with MVP when you consider it was a breakout year for him as well
This year it was no doubt he won
