Does Baseball apply readily apply tampering to players or is it like the NBA where they'll only go after people involved with management or ownership for tampering?

Young pitchers are so fragile. Good on Severino for taking that extension. If he stays healthy and produces then he will be underpaid but the security will help if he gets hurt, which unfortunately many young starters who throw really hard do.

I mean I get it, they are trying to reach out to the social media base and continue to reach a younger audience

I think it's a really fun idea as a way to get fans excited about both the Election Day and the All-Star Game itself, and also a way to prevent fanbases from stuffing the online ballot like Royals fans did back in 2015. It also hopefully would mean that the best and most deserving players receive induction into the All-Star Game, as unbiased voters on a single day are far more likely to vote for the best player if it comes down to three at each position than if it's a months-long tally for 15 players. I'm also on board with the suggestion of a three-batter-minimum rule for pitchers in the Midsummer Classic, as my interest in the game itself wanes greatly as the innings roll on and the star players are relieved by less-heralded, sometimes first-time All-Stars. I'd much rather see Jacob deGrom pitch to Mookie Betts in the middle innings than Joe Jimenez pitching to Scooter Gennett, if you catch my drift.

Can the Red Sox just cut ties with Wright and call it a day? This season, it's an 80-game suspension for performance-enhancing drugs. Last year, it was a 15-game suspension for domestic violence. Why continue to endure these headaches for a 34-year-old pitcher who hasn't been even remotely decent since the summer of 2016? As for the on-field product, this is just another ding in an already-dented bullpen. Wright's suspension moves everyone up a spot, meaning the defending World Series champions with a payroll nearing $222 million will have to call on guys like Colten Brewer, Bobby Poyner, or Marcus Walden to pin down the middle and late innings. The 108-win world champion Red Sox having a bullpen that lousy is like owning a beautiful home but the bathroom is an outhouse.

Yeah, this Seaver news has been making the rounds recently. He is really the only great player in franchise history besides Piazza with their own legacy. I remember reading this article the other day, and it really embodies how great Seaver was compared to any other Met. "Unlike many of his former teammates, Seaver does not live his life as a ’69 Met. “It’s not that he lost connection with it,’’ Swoboda said from New Orleans. “In a much greater career, it’s a highlight for him.”: www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/mets/mets-seaver-shamsky-harrelson-world-series-1.27932386

That sucks. Build him a statue outside Citi Field, Mets. He deserves it.

I have a question that I can’t seem to find the answer to, so maybe somebody knows:
Is there anything preventing a team from cutting a Rule 5 player and then immediately trading for him in order to send him down?
This obviously presumes that the player clears waivers and is returned to his club.
Anyone know?

A-Rod and J-Lo are so cute together. Happy for them taking the next step in their relationship.
