I guess he did it now because of how "cheap" some of these owners are getting but why would you want to stay on the Angels? They've shown very little interest in getting better aside from Ohtani (hurt) and Justin Upton.

I don't think these long contracts ever really work out, but if Bryce and Machado got their amounts, Trout is definitely worth way more. Trout's 27, and if he keeps up his pace, he's in that Babe Ruth and Willie Mays category. You break the bank for a player like that. Trout might be what a healthy Mantle would have been. Not a shock to see him stay at all. There was only one team he's leave the Angels for, and that was Philadelphia.

Trout allegedly broke the bank to the tune of 12 years, $430 mil. Jesus tapdancing Christ. That is asinine money. On a related note, tickets are way too expensive resulting in me going to like 1 game in 8 years

So, he's winning an average of 35.8 millions per year? Dang.

I just mean that I don't think signing anyone for that long is a great move. It usually cripples the team financially. The only team I can think of that won a title after giving someone 10 years was the Yankees with A-Rod.

On a related note, tickets are way too expensive resulting in me going to like 1 game in 8 years It’s one of the reasons I’ve stopped going to Red Sox games. Cheap tickets go for $80, parking is $40 so a game is $200 before even eating or drinking anything

Trout allegedly broke the bank to the tune of 12 years, $430 mil. Get that big bank Even as great as Trout is I think he would topped out on the market at like $350-375 million so Angels Def forked over that money Now hope they build a winning team around him

They've shown very little interest in getting better aside from Ohtani (hurt) and Justin Upton. He’s just comfortable in L.A. There is no real pressure on him there. Ohtani will be fine whether he’s pitching or hitting but that team has to improve Trout is the anti LeBron in regards to he just goes out and play and doesn’t worry about what front office does. If I’m MLB I’m happy my best player is committed to one spot but worried because despite being the best player he isn’t the face of baseball

Well, it seems Harper wont be able to get him to the Phillies.
Although that is a lot of money (more money than one player is worth), but I tend to think Trout is more worth it than Harper.
Also hope the Angels are prepared to have issues getting free agents.

Trout isn't just a great player. He's a transcendent one. He earned that money. Just hope, for his sake, he gets at least one championship to his name.

It's going be sad if Trout is just a "numbers guy" for his career and doesn't get the postseason accolades that comes along with a HOF career ala Ichiro
I want to see Trout in the playoffs in his prime to see what type of damage (or no damage) he can do It's one of the reasons why I think Judge has leaped him as the face of the game (not to be confused with best player) because Judge has the national commercials and on top of that the moments to showcase himself in the postseason and has had some big hits under the lights

He might wind up being the biggest name of this generation.. so he should probably be the highest paid. We’ll see if Mookie Betts can keep the same pace for the next couple of years he’ll be another $300+

I think Mookie is just right behind Trout

Mookie might even be better if he can be close to what he was this year for a few years to come. I just think the MLB while desperate for a face of the league thinks Trout is their best player.

Think is Trout as I said before is the best player but he isn't the face of the league. He's not as featured main stream which you can blame on himself and MLB. Judge and Harper are the faces of the league in that regard
