And the fans are conditioned to this structure From my outsider perspective, I feel New Japan have done better at making a whole card feel important, while WWE fans have seemingly been conditioned to believe only a few matches matters, usually the main event and whatever the part time guys do, even though I feel like that’s more to WWE not going out of their way to talk up their undercard as opposed to actively talking them down, if that makes sense. Wrestle Kingdom is definitively an ending. It's actually not an ideal jumping-on point, because it serves as the culmination for tournaments thatt took place a few months ago and is meant to build on what came in the previous year on the whole. New Years Dash the next day is always meant as a fresh start and the New Beginning tour that follows generally brings all new stories and directions and things with it. In contrast, Wrestlemania always has a Backlash or something following in its wake with rematches and redos, nothing really finds its end when Wrestlemania ends. There's a certain lack of conclusive anything to it, even in years where Wrestlemania doesn't feel like a "Tune in next time" episode, and this year it absolutely did with stuff like Nakamura/AJ at Mania being the beginning of a four month storyline. It's easier to believe a show is important when it's treated as a conclusive ending.
