Kenny Omega needs his old theme back especially if he’s going heel The theme he had was fine but it’s probably something he should been using since Tama split the Bullet Club It was also a little too upbeat for him It was a theme from Undertale. I doubt he's keeping it. He's become good friends with Toby Fox, directly working with him for Kenny's Quest. He very well could be keeping it as an entrance theme if he worked out a deal with him for licensing as well.

Going into this show, I was confident that White was going to defeat Okada, but then I got thrown off the scent by the return of Okada in 100% Rainmaker mode. I didn't think that Jay would beat that version at the Tokyo Dome. The match made me change course with my prediction to the point that my jaw was on the floor when Okada actually lost. Just awesome, for pure emotional investment, Okada/White was the MOTN for me.
Last night was the final confirmation that NJPW are going all the way with Jay White. I think he'll be IWGP Heavyweight Champion within the next 6 months.

So what time is NYD? Laying down for a nap beforehand. Same time as WK?

If the post show is any indication, Jay might be Tana’s first challenger.

I also just wanna mention that, like, I think this was probably the most consistently positive live thread for any show on here I've ever seen. I know this is obviously a heavily reduced crew compared to what a WWE PPV would get as far as live thread people, but I just want so badly to show this thread as a whole to people when they say this place is just people looking to be upset and negative all the time about everything. Positivity throughout about the show, praising it, getting into the matches and letting them happen, nobody posting any super weird hot takes that make everyone stop for a sec and go "Um what, dude?" and even when there's jokes happening like the mini Kushida stuff it's not because the show has lost people it's because everyone is feeling good. Just goes to show that when a show is great it's really something special.

I have come around on Jay a lot, but I hope he doesn't win the title this year. I want him to get tantalizingly close, I feel like he needs just a little more time in the oven. I am glad my hopes Jericho came to WK with something to prove panned out, and I felt like that was his best performance in NJPW. The right man won, though, and it was good to see Naito put him away for good. I wanna say I was a little over half-and-half for my predictions, but I forget if I even called a winner for the Jr. title, whoops, and I can't find where I put my predictions. I called most of the obvious ones, anyhow. If Omega is leaving, he can do so with his head held high. He tried to fill AJ's shoes, and in the last few years, he's proven his value as more than a pretender to the throne. Tanahashi showed he's still got it, even if this is probably his last hurrah. I think my favorite match of the night was the Naito one, with my least favorite being "Great up until we got f***ing stupid" Ospreay vs Ibushi match. I would have had Juice versus Cody as the least match of the night, but you know, "CARELESSNESS!" all over again. That elbow shouldn't have happened in the first place, and no match is worth brain damage. I do not reward that with praise.

I dunno, isn't White/Tana kinda done to death already? These guys wrestled in 3 big matches last year. They can put White over everyone on earth but no one buys him at that level right now. His biggest fan is apparently Flip Gordon.
Personally I'd have White target Naito and the IC title. Naito doesn't really need that belt and White was unsuccessful before going for it so he needs it. Naito doesn't have a clear direction coming out of this show.

If the post show is any indication, Jay might be Tana’s first challenger. Honestly that's the last thing they should be doing right now. It's too soon to put the belt on Jay White right now. The crowd is slowly but surely starting to take to him but it's like the Roman Reigns thing, if they rush this it's going to stop being heel heat, and become "Go away" heat. Meanwhile if he challenges for the belt and loses so soon after the biggest win of his career it kills his momentum dead. Not to mention they can't get away with a bullshit non finish to an IWGP Heavyweight Title match and frankly I don't know if Jay White and Tanahashi and White have it in them to do a 60 minute draw. There's no version of this that ends well.

Hence the IC challenge. They can put any number of guys in vs. Tana for a filler challenge. Suzuki can attack him at NYD or whatever, since they were 1-1 last year. It makes for a decent story really, with Suzuki like "I destroyed this guy last year yet he ends up winning a Tokyo Dome main event while I had to work the pre show!"
Tana/Omega is the biggest thing they can do at MSG. I think it was hinted at with Omega's "1-1" tweet.

Towards the end some folks started getting into “WrestleMania sucks!” stuff, but everything about WK was pretty glowingly positive.

I do think he or Ishii should take the ic tho I agree on that one. Like I said it's way too soon for the big belt for him. The crowd isn't totally sold on him yet, but he has been gaining ground going by crowd reactions. So have him take the IC Belt, let him get more seasoned in these big match scenarios let him establish himself more, and then have him get the big belt. It's like Kenny's Heavyweight run (Polarizing topic I know). The crowd wasn't buying it at first, then he had some solid matches and won the IC Belt, slowly but surely over the course of the next year the crowd warmed up to him. The big difference of course being, Kenny was already somewhat established as a Junior before that point, while Jay's still got a ways to go and a lot to prove.

I watched the show earlier so I thought I’d put down my individual thoughts;
- I can only wish Ibushi all the best in his recovery from injury and I hope it’s nowhere near as serious as Shibata. If it’s not as bad as it seems, I need a rematch of that yesterday, some of the sequences were the freaking best. - Both the three team tag title matches were fun as hell. Great stuff all around. - The British title match told a great story and made Zack look like a total beast. The belt looks gorgeous and I got a kick from seeing Andy Quildan in a NJPW ring at the Tokyo Dome. Especially since my first Rev Pro Show had Sha Samuels and Colt Cabana Fight it out for the belt. - I wasn’t paying attention that much to Juice/Cody because another discussion was going on but I love that it was a definitive ending for the feud. Juice hit his move twice to prove a point after losing the first time they met at WK and won back his belt. Good stuff, Juice is one of the most improved talents this decade. - The end sequence of White/Okada was goddamn astounding and Jay just looks like the man for beating him. Like, it feels like he’s a different worker from the match with Tanahashi last year and it was great to see. It was also the most Western style match I have seen from New Japan in a long time and it worked a charm for the crowd. I know there’s more build needed for the guy but if you said to me a future WK main event was White/Okada where Okada finally beats Jay for the belt, I’d be down for that. - Jericho/Naito was really fun because one of my mates and I were playing it in kayfabe with him justifying Jericho and me rooting for Naito. It added a bit extra to the match that was, in itself, a really fun madcapped brawl with Jericho finally getting his. - The main event was f***ing greatness. Both men being driven to go lengths to prove their respective points and the crowd was the hottest I’ve heard the Tokyo Dome has been since I started watching NJPW on a somewhat consistent basis. I hope we as wrestling fans are honestly able to have a conversation where Tanahashi’s up there with some of the greatest ever because he belongs up there with your Michaels, Flairs and Harts of the business.
