So, the season is underway and last night saw Duke just destroy Kentucky.
At least they got football, heh.

It's gonna be real tough to stop that Zion/Barrett combo. Zion will definitely have harder nights than 11 of 13 from the field, but the problem is he is so big and explosive that like a young Shaq, it's gonna be really impossible to stop him from getting where he wants to be on the court. He hit a three and about a 24 footer from the top of the key after a crossover, ran a fast break, and took the ball upcourt after a change in possession. Really showed the whole catalog of what he can do handling the ball, his range, his vision and passing. Like I said, his shot isn't going to fall at the same clip, but he showed that he is the real deal Cloverfield. Dude is a legitimate monster.

I'm really impressed by Mac McClung from Georgetown. Not often you get to see a dude who isn't that big throw down dunks like that.

Valparaiso's move to the Valley is creating some headaches.

Duke had a good shooting night, but they'll cool off soon and probably be a 5 seed.

To add to the thread title. James Wiseman, a top 5 prospect in the class of 2019, committed to Memphis, today. At one time, he was considered a lock for Kentucky.

Indiana just got owned at Assembly Hall by Nebraska.
I can justify this with football, because it's football, but not basketball.
Archie Miller needs to get his head adjusted, because Tim Miles is NOT a competent coach.

I'm looking at the standings right now in Division I for when I bring back my MID-MAJOR TEAMS TO PAY ATTENTION TO OR WHATEVER THE HELL I CALLED IT LAST YEAR thing, and I have a feeling we're getting at least one sub-.500 team in the Dance this year.

I mean are you considering Buffalo or Nevada for that? Because those teams are pretty well known already. Might have said Murray until Belmont waxed them last night.
U of L is in a 5 way tie for first in the ACC. Better run that up as much as possible because looking at Feb. it will not be pretty. UNC again, road games at VA Tech and FSU, Duke, Virginia twice (ugh), Syracuse on the road, etc. Pretty wild to think that after stomping Carolina at the Dean Dome it would almost be a bad loss to lose to them at home.

Well, this is my rule from when I did this last year as THE TEAMS FROM THE SMALLER CONFERENCES THAT YOU REALLY MAY WANT TO PAY ATTENTION TO AS THEY MAY BE IMPORTANT COME BRACKET TIME: Basically, I exclude most of the bigger conferences (AAC, A10, ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, SEC, PAC-12. C-USA, WCC), and from the rest I take a team or two (but no more than three) that are leading or have piqued my interest for whatever reason.

I dunno if Lipscomb will make the tourney but I thought they were a tough team when they played U of L at the Yum. Hofstra is a good team out of the Colonial Conference. WKU could be interesting if they can win the C-USA tourney but if not they have zero shot. Big wins but a lot of awful losses. North Texas is a solid team otherwise in that league. The Southern Conference might be the best jobber league this year though, with someone from Wofford, UNC Greensboro, E. TN State being dangerous. Furman was briefly ranked but has since kinda gone down hill a bit.
I know you excluded the WCC due to Gonzaga but if San Francisco can somehow make the tourney they're pretty decent.

N.C. State managed to score only 24 points in a loss to Virginia Tech today. That is the fewest points scored ever by a ranked team in the shot clock era.
