You know, it's still kind of weird to hear all the s-bombs on Falcon and Winter Soldier. I mean, yeah, I know it's been in the movies several times (that scene with Tony's daughter in Endgame comes to mind), but when it's on something thats more explicitly under the Disney banner it becomes more jarring.

I guess that’s what happens when someone like Kevin Feige guides a studio to becoming a major franchise player. You have the ability to go up to the head of Disney, ask if it’s ok to say the word “Shit” in a production districted by them and not be told no because of the money that’ll come in.

Disney have announced three UK-produced Star Originals for Disney+ which are as follows... The Ballad of Renegade Nell, a Disney-branded swashbuckling adventure series set in the 18th century, written by the multi-BAFTA Award-winning writer Sally Wainwright (Gentleman Jack, Happy Valley) and produced by Lookout Point (Gentleman Jack, A Suitable Boy). When she’s framed for murder, Nell Jackson is forced into a life of highway robbery, along with her two orphaned sisters Roxanne and George. Aided by a plucky little spirit called Billy Blind, Nell realises that fate has put her on the wrong side of the law for a reason, a reason much bigger than she could’ve ever imagined, a reason that goes right up to Queen Anne and beyond, to the struggle for power raging across the battlefields of Europe. Executive produced by Sally Wainwright, Faith Penhale and Will Johnston from BBC Studios-backed Lookout Point, this will be a stylish, witty and surprising romp from one of the UK’s most acclaimed series creators. Star Original commission Culprits is a dark and funny heist series from acclaimed film-maker J Blakeson (I Care A Lot, The Disappearance of Alice Creed). Culprits follows what happens after a heist, when the crew have gone their separate ways, but are being targeted by a killer one-by-one. A whip-smart thriller created and directed by J Blakeson, executive produced by Stephen Garrett (The Undoing; The Night Manager), and produced by Morenike Williams (Killing Eve). Culprits is a Character 7 production. Extraordinary, a Star Original comedy series from new talent Emma Moran, follows Jen, a young, self-aware woman who lives in a world where everyone has a superpower… except her. From BAFTA, Golden Globe, Emmy, and Peabody Award-winning production company Sid Gentle Films, this is a fresh, innovative comedy about being young and finding your feet in a confusing world, when all you’ll ever be is ‘ordinary’. Extraordinary is a celebration of the anti-superhero, giving people permission to embrace their general okay-ness. Extraordinary is executive produced by Sally Woodward Gentle, Lee Morris (Killing Eve) and Charles Dawson, and created by Moran, a stand-out debut writer with an utterly distinctive voice.

I put it in the Star Wars thread but yeah, it’s a weird inclusion but I guess if you’re including Ewoks and the cartoon from the Christmas Special, you might as well, right? EDIT: Pay Warner for a license for the Robot Chicken specials, you might as well, right?

Are you sure he even asked? If you told me he simply told them, "They're gonna be PG-13 from time to time", the Disney executives would be just fine with it.

I was probably being generous with the "asked" thing, sure.

Finally Wander Over Yonder! My wife has been clamoring for that ever since Disney+ first came out.

That’s pretty crazy for Sony, basically tapping into both Netflix with their newer movies and Disney+ for their back catalogue. Hell, could be likely their back catalogue is on Netflix too which would be wild. Edit: Seeing their newer stuff’s going on there after the Netflix period ends and...yeah, no negatives for Sony here.

That solves the issue of the MCU Spidey films being notably missing from the Marvel section.

Before anyone jokes/panics...it's just the rights to carry Sony's movies.
Disney does not own Sony.
Yet. (dammit I couldn't help it)

I'll just flat out say it right now;
There's zero chance Disney buys Sony in the form it is now, especially when it's actually doing as well financially as it is right now.
The key thing to the Fox deal was that Fox themselves thought the film and TV line were losing them money compared to Sports and News so the sale was much easier to justify.
Like, unless Disney are going to get into TVs, video games (HA!) and electronics in the next few years...doesn't seem likely.

And was going to sell, regardless if it was to Disney or not. The other option was Comcast (NBC/Universal). And they fought until the bitter end to buy Fox. There was no scenario where Fox doesn't end up being bought by an already major player in TV and Film.

And Comcast's strategy was to hold things off as long as possible rather than actually "wanting" Fox because, well, we get where something like Disney+ is now with all the options rather than that all going to a Paramount+ on steroids.

And honestly, the Disney deal had more benefits (rights to ALL the Star Wars movies, to the X-Men/Fantastic Four, plus numerous new franchises for them to benefit from).

The entire 20th Century Fox library would make Peacock a lot more interesting, though. And you know Comcast is going to hold those theme park rights to The Simpsons and Marvel (in Florida) as long as they possibly can, just so Disney can't have them.
