What do you think has contributed to the NBA's lack of parity? The Warriors and the Cavs have played each other in the finals for 4 years in a row.

That won't happen for a 5th time this year. I was actually just thinking of the age-old issue of when a sports league sees an extended period of 1 team being head honcho, head and shoulders above the rest of that league, and whether that's somehow 'good' or 'bad' for that league. I say that that issue doesn't actually lie with how great the #1 team is, but how great the #2/#3/#4/#5/#6 teams are, and how likely they are to preventing the #1 team from winning the championship. In NCAA football, the #1 for a while has been Alabama, but there are still other teams capable of beating them in the playoffs (which has indeed happened.) In the NFL, the #1 for a while has been the Patriots, but there are still other teams capable of beating them in the playoffs (which has indeed happened.) In the NBA, who the heck is beating the Warriors this year? Of their previous 16 7-game series of the past 4 seasons, only 3 of those series have even been close. And this season, I guess we'll get a gauge of how good teams are at the end of the regular season. It's more or less up to the other 2-3 teams that round out the top of the West along with the Warriors, and whether the East winner has a chance of being their West opponent in the NBA Finals series.

Milwaukee? I almost never pay attention to the NBA (outright despise it, in fact) but they just beat Golden State a couple days ago.

They certainly are looking great so far, and are led by an ever improving superstar. If they can sustain this quality into June, they're definitely a contender.

People blame one man only.
Kevin Durant.
When he went to Golden State that all but ensured that Golden State would win forever and ever.
Some people called him a snake for doing that.

The NBA has always had a lack of parity tho For the most part with only a few exceptions scattered throughout the last six decades this is true.

It takes one player to change a team and unlike any other sport, players will gravitate to one all time great player especially if they are in the correct market
In today's NBA market don't matter as much due to contracts generally often then not if takes a few key draft picks and some great signings to turn your hopes around (Lakers having Kareem and drafting Magic and Worthy for example)

He also was the perfect glue guy and calm head funnel for Green. Everyone says he sold out but if your so frustrated with your job and the ability to do work so you eventually find a rival tribal group and call yourself an nba champion

What extremely pisses me off however is that Butler can just sit out and legit refuse to play (or play long) so he can force a trade...It's despicable to teamwork and even the employeers that sign his checks

The NBA has always been a league of dynasties. I think the only time there really wasn't a dynasty was the 70's.
The early years (Late 40's-50's), you had the Minneapolis Lakers.
The late 50's through the 60's, you had the Boston Celtics.
The 70's, you really didn't have a long streak of constant winners. The Knicks won 2, the Celtics won 2, and then there were a number of different winners.
The 80's, you had the Showtime Lakers as well as the Blue Collar Celtics, with a late charge by the Bad Boys of Detroit.
The 90's, you had the Bulls.
The 00's, the Lakers and the Spurs.

I blame Thibs for essentially giving him free reign to act like that in Minnesota towards the end because a strong ownership and coaching staff nibs that in the bud real fast
Memes is out with people making jokes Butler losing his shit when Embiid cracks a joke or Fultz air balls a 3 but that shit is closer to the truth than fake

Yep, that's the reason. LeBron can go to any team and make them a playoff contender, and if they're in the East, he makes them a favorite to get to the Finals. Mike Trout is without a doubt the best player in baseball, but he can't get the Angels to the playoffs. A superstar in the NBA can easily take over a game. A superstar in MLB or NFL can't take over a game.

While that is true those games/series were still competitive built on tough physical defense. You just didn't have a lot of I guess obvious special treatment for particular superstars(s). Not saying it didn't happen but the games were still close. The fact that the league right now isn't built on physical tough defense, a touch on a player is a foul, and the players are friendly with one another so you don't have any intense rivalry anymore. Now if you truly think about the amount of different teams that have won a championship in recent history you have Detroit, Miami(repeats included), Dallas, Cleveland, and Golden State. That's actually pathetic when you think about it. There was a time when it wasn't odd to see teams like New York, Denver, Milwaukee, Utah, Atlanta, and Washington make it deep into the regular season and be strong contenders in the playoffs. The league needs parity and they don't need to let another Kevin Durant situation happen again.

I don’t blame Durant for leaving, nobody can win with Russell Westbrook. Also once he went to GSW, he became the man, not just another piece but the motherf***ing fan.
Here’s the thing, the Warriors build a dynasty because of luck, injuries, and good management.
The Timberwolves had two shots at drafting Steph Curry, they passed and both of those point guards don’t play in Minnesota anymore. Klay Thompson was a late draft pick, and the warriors almost traded him away before Steve Kerr convinced the team that he was an important piece. Draymond Green was a second round steal, and if the Warriors would’ve gotten Kevin Love in 2014, he would’ve never been a starter. Kevin Durant was only able to join the team because Steph signed a low deal after destroying his knees. Steve Kerr became the coach because James Dolan refused to give him the money he asked the Knicks.
The Warriors are a once in a lifetime megateam, that I doubt will ever happen again.

A superstar in MLB or NFL can't take over a game. A MLB player can take over a game but the problem is it's hard to be sharp for 4 games in a playoff series going against pitchers that throw 100. You can hit 3 HRs and still lose 4-3 because the rest of your team didn't pick it up
In basketball as seen with Durant last 2 NBA finals or LeBron in the East, it's hard to stop the best player and he has a good enough team. You can pencil him in for 30 or more and he directly influences his teams success

Basketball has smaller rosters and fewer players on the court than the other sports. It's easier for one guy to take over a game when there's only five guys trying to stop him.
