Yeah fair to Impact, should they really have to put up with WWE's 4th most important tag champs jobbing theirs out due to mandate from up above?

Yep. Wouldn't want them having a great match with better known teams to help maybe pull some eyes toward Impact. EVOLVE can't even pull some eyes towards their own product, how is having them job to a WWE developmental tag team going to draw viewers to Impact?

I just hope Impact reimburses LAX the money they lost on missing that booking.

Is there at least an Impact show on that same date that Impact "needs them for," or is it just "you can't wrestle there that day?"

It's a no win situation. Impact pulls them, they're costing them a payday, impact lets them work, OMG impact let their tag champs job on a WWE developmental show! LOLTNA!

Why would Impact want one of their top teams wrestling (and losing to, let's be honest) an obscure WWE developmental team with no name value, especially in a time where WWE is signing away literally everyone that breathes in their direction slightly? Like, I'm not one to defend TNA decision making, but this is the best course of action they could have taken. Wins and loses don’t matter when nobody is gonna watch it. EVOLVE is the niche of a niche product, wrestling in an evolve show is like being in the witness protection program.

Impact didn't pull them from the Evolve booking until WWE put extra restrictions on the NXT UK talent, including no matches allowed against Impact/ROH/NJPW contracted talent.
If WWE wants no crossover in contracted talent, why should Impact (or NJPW or ROH) be cool with it?

Fair play, after saying their talent can’t wrestle Impact guys, this match was on the chopping block.

The option of a DQ brawl finish exists you know? Impact balked here. Simple. So you'd book a match to end without a real finish, knowing you won't be able to follow up on it and expect a smart heavy audience to be okay with that? I might. It's not a big televised event, Neither team loses and because it's a brawl both can actually come out looking tougher. Moreover, the idea that somehow by not showing up that somehow LAX will remain a secret is even sillier. I can't verify this but I'd bet hey have people watching the most notable promotions.

PWinsider: The decision to pull LAX from their EVOLVE dates was specifically based on Impact talent being in the ring with contracted WWE talent.

They didn't seem to have any problem having EC3 job to Johnny Gargano at the Evolve show I went to in 2016 right before the CWC.

I would have done the same thing. LAX wasn't going over the Street Profits and LAX wouldn't be the ones taking the fall either, thus the third team and then the six man. Just poor booking by Gabe, IMO. He had to know that the matches were not going to fly. Should have done a 8 man with them teaming or some sort of scramble type match where they wouldn't interact much. Yeah, that's my feelings. I wouldn't want my tag champs taking a random fall to the guys who are literally promoted as developmental talent. It just seemed like a weird "no-win" situation for TNA unless they were that set on getting their guys some more bookings.

It's going to be funny when after everyone throws all these reasons and justifications out, it turns out TNA just had to pull LAX so they could try out for The Amazing Race.

This boggles my mind. On the one hand, I give TNA credit for actually avoiding the age old criticism they may have faced of TNA always chasing after WWE and deciding not to do it just once. But on the other... This. Was. Your. Chance. You. Dummies. After years of feeding off of this "That Company Up North" idiocy, this was your chance to have 2 of your wrestlers take on 2 of the WWE's wrestlers in a match that WWE was alright with...and you goddamn blinked. You. Goddamn. Blinked. All of the criticism that TNA was all talk, no action, you just proved it. If they canceled the match because they were afraid LAX would impress and get signed, that's shitty. But if they just got cold feet...that's TNA doing what TNA does best. Leaving money on the table. Not really sure what miracle you expect would happen if this match took place.

Disappointing, because I recall Impact management making a big deal in interviews during recent months about how they have a different outlook nowadays (compared to previous management regimes) where they care more about the guys getting work, making a living, letting them have the rights to their own names and control their own bookings, etc. While this situation "sounds" like a losing proposition for Impact (but a monetarily winning proposition for the talent), the reality is, this match would've taken place in front of 300 people in a nightclub. Who cares? It just costs the guys a booking and the fans who would've been there the opportunity to see the match. Just a lame move.
