No one outside of ESPN is taking the XFL seriously, and ESPN has an economic interest in people taking the XFL seriously. You have to understand the reasons thought. The XFL has an uphill battle because the name itself and Vince attachment has everyone looking right back at 2001 and many think that its the same thing all over again, regardless what Oliver luck and all the football knowledge people he brought into this, they say it different every time they have a mic in front of them or article is put out with there comments. The other factor is the Spring Football has not had a success rate. Yes the networks oked to have the XFL games on a really good NFL like TV deal which gives the XFL the best chance to make it work and grow. There are a lot football fans unsure I'm sure of going to a game regardless the reasonable price. It's going to be all about the quality of the games played on the field and as the season goes on, how much improvement we are seeing from each team as chemistry is made. While they clearly thinking big, no way they are going to fill these venues they picked. If they get 25,000 at a game that more of a realistic number and if they make it to a second year and beyond the 3 years that been said Vince invested in so for. As long in that period, the games are good for at less the most part, and we see a stay rise in attendance and ratings on TV are strong enough for networks to keep it on. This is when the rest of the media will spend more time covering it. There is a lot of I'll believe it when I see it on things when it comes to football fans and the media. Looking back at what I said, about my local teams not saying anything. I think they are wondering the same thing, if this will last beyond a year. Many still wonder that, Even with the investment.

Alpha Entertainment recently filed some trademark applications for the team logos, including a few that weren’t used at the unveiling. Secondary logos, perhaps? Anyway, take a look at this one in particular: Is it just me, or does that sort of look like the Patriots’ logo?

I'll give them this, I'll definitely attend at least one New York game. I don't think it will take that much for me to at least watch the first few weeks. I'm weirdly pulling for it to work mainly because any secondary league that can function should help the sport and the players overall.

So now we know the names of the eight teams, but what about identities that didn’t make the cut? Earlier in the thread, I posted a screenshot of potential names for the Seattle franchise; now take a look at others that were under consideration: I find it interesting that Comets was a potential name for the Houston franchise, considering that the Houston Comets are a former WNBA team.

LA Gold would've been a good name.
Dallas Bandits I would've preferred.

DC Sentinels? They could have been named after the team from The Replacements?

LA Gold would've been a good name. Dallas Bandits I would've preferred. Ari finally would have gotten his football team. I still can't believe this is happening again. It failed once. The other league failed before the season even ended. This will fail again.

Let's look at some of the colleges that have been mentioned as they have provided fodder for amusement. *"Globe Tech": the Globe Institute of Technology was a for-profit school that closed in 2016 which somehow had athletic programs which was in NJCAA. Despite the appearance of SW Assembly of God, this is the strangest entry. *"Pace": Pace University is a Division II school with the nickname "Settlers". Just outside of New York City. *"Mars Hill": Based in the town of Mars Hill, North Carolina. Division II in NCAA. *"SW Assembly of God": One of the few schools endorsed by Assemblies of God USA (um... I'm not gonna go there), and based in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Member of both the NAIA & NCCAA (National Christian Colleges Athletic Association). *"Mary Hardin-Baylor": Several miles outside of the actual Baylor campus, it was originally made as a women's campus separate from Baylor, which only lasted 5 years. Division III school. *"Heidelberg": Not just an obscure Simpsons reference, this is a university in Ohio that plays Division III.

And people thought the NFL washouts and leftovers from the Division I FBS and FCS schools were going to play a brand of substandard football.

With the draft starting today, the XFL announced the eight quarterbacks who have a guaranteed roster spot and their assigned teams: Landry Jones (Dallas Renegades) Cardale Jones (DC Defenders) Philip Walker (Houston Roughnecks) Luis Perez (LA Wildcats) Matt McGloin (NY Guardians) Jordan Ta’amu (St. Louis BattleHawks) Brandon Silvers (Seattle Dragons) Aaron Murray (Tampa Bay Vipers) I figured the board would appreciate this: The XFL is planning a series of perks for its season ticket holders, with one of them being a chance to join an online community called the Football Advisory Network. Hold on a sec, let’s look at that again. The Football Advisory Network? The ... FAN?

Hold on a sec, let’s look at that again. The Football Advisory Network? The ... FAN? I mean, I like Phillip Walker as a Colts fan, but the guy was buried on their practice squad for a reason. The franchise QBs? Landry Jones (Dallas Renegades) 19 total games, 5 starts Cardale Jones (DC Defenders) 1 game, 0 starts Phillip Walker (Houston Roughnecks) 0 games Luis Perez (LA Wildcats) 0 NFL games, 8 AAF starts Matt McGloin (NY Guardians) 13 games, 7 starts Jordan Ta’amu (St. Louis BattleHawks) 0 games Brandon Silvers (Seattle Dragons) 0 NFL games, 3 AAF starts Aaron Murray (Tampa Bay Vipers) 0 NFL games, 5 AAF games (3 starts) I mean, there are actual NFL quality QBs that are currently unemployed. Brock Osweiler might be the epitome of mediocre in the NFL, but he'd rip apart a spring league. Granted, I doubt the XFL can afford a Sam Bradford, Osweiler or even Tom Savage, all whom could potentially still get NFL backup jobs any day now, but it could not hurt to ask them. Btw, I did not include Kaep on the options. Not that he isn't the best available, but the XFL is still owned by a man man married to the head of a Pro-Trump SuperPAC. There is absolutely no chance that they would even entertain talking to him at all.
