I don’t watch Raw or SD, was there any explanation given as to why he moved over from the 205 roster? Not really but it's working out for him. Missed his match tonight but I hope he brings this gear soon: He used it tonight. Smart idea that they're having him wear this from now on because it's really recognizable and it's an easy merch idea. Shit, boy's already got his merch game on lock. So he's young, he can go in the ring, he's got merch, he's got a lot of the tools to be successful already when you look at what the company likes.

^^ small detail, but he didn’t have the hand-laser.
Also, he needs to bring back the hand-laser.

LOL this reminds me of Johnny Curtis and Maxine's journey to get off of the old NXT way back when. Good for Ali, dude has it all in the ring and out and deserves to get exposed to a larger crowd.

So he's the 2nd person to escape 205. Gallagher and Gulak are probably heading up an escape committee now.

I suggest everybody go watch his farewell to Freelance Wrestling on youtube. He was all but ready to retire when WWE called him for the Cruiserweight Classic.
Either way, Ali is a great ambassador for WWE. Good family man, does a lot in the community (I actually think he was a cop before signing with WWE), preaches equality, can go in the ring. Is this potentially similar to the Jinder push? maybe. But in terms of everything else Ali does he makes more sense for the rocket strap than Jinder ever did.

Usually when the cop is two days away from retirement, that means he's about to die, not advance to dizzy heights in his other career as a pro wrestler.

They just casually mentioned that he's on SDL now when they hyped his tag match with AJ against Bryan & Almas. My kayfabe headcanon is that this was one of Paige's final acts as SD General Manager after Ali's match last week. She was so impressed by him that she got Shane to sign him on to the show

I'm so glad he stopped wearing that bootleg Ninja Turtle armor top.

Missed his match tonight but I hope he brings this gear soon: That is sweet looking gear. Reminds me of something out of Mortal Kombat

Looking at that picture that's what has been missing in wrestling. Cool costumes such as this that makes the wrestler look like a wrestler. The WWE needs to bring back the cool colorful over the top costumes. It's details like this that can help the wrestler get over with a cool visual for the fans to get behind and want to buy.

He is going to get over. I know the automatic comparison is “why does he get pulled up, but not Neville?” but, I think Ali has something that Neville doesn’t. That “IT” factor.

Probably a combination of things I think the view of 205 live has changed since then (see how Maverick, Rush, and Lucha House Party are being used) and I think it's also possible that Neville may have rubbed some in creative the wrong way

It is interesting though. I hope any of the reputable news sites shed light on the call to take Ali out of the purple brand. I could guess that... - being a Muslim, he's marketable to them. - fans want change and this is change. - he's earned it. But still. For a while, it seemed like official policy that '205 Live' was its own thing and, reportedly, it led to Neville making his exit. I'm very curious about what this means for other cruiserweights going forward.

I'm all for this push, I got to see him live at Mania this year vs. Cedric and it blew me away, I can see him as U.S champ or even as a title defense for Bryan.

So elated for Ali. I remember when he started working as a face on 205 Live and he had a few articles online here and there celebrating the fact that there was a Muslim American babyface wrestling without any sort of weird stereotype or gimmick. I thought his ceiling was the CW championship and that's about it. Never would I imagine just a few weeks ago that he would join the main roster and pin Daniel Bryan of all people. The WWE has a legit superstar in the making with Ali. He's got the look, decent mic skills, is an amazing wrestler, and could bring in tons of positive mainstream attention to the WWE for their positive depiction of a Muslim American wrestler. Don't screw this up!!!!

Because Ali has enthusiasm, probably easier to get along with, and happily plyed his craft on 205 until he got "the call". I'd say performance wise he's similar to Neville, but backstage conduct they are miles apart.
