Looks like Jordan Peele has laughed off the sophomore slump.

I’m pretty hype for this. Looks the perfect level of weird and unnerving.

I wanna see it because it looks real good but I'm also a gigantic baby about the more unnerving horror films.

Just got back from a critic's screening and, wow, absolutely tremendous. Going to have this one swimming around in my head for a while.

Movie has its first negative review... and it's from some site that I've never heard of that has a paywall to even read the review so it feels like it's nothing but an attention grab.

Sounds like the guy who gave Get Out it's first negative rating; a notorious contrarian who gave Norbit and Jack and Jill glowing reviews.

I feel like I might catch heat for saying this, but I really, really, really want this movie to just stay out of the realm of political allegory. I just want to sit in a cinema, turn my brain off from the world around me, and just be scared by what's happening on the screen in front of me without it also becoming a sociology lecture.

To be fair, considering the climate we're currently in you might as well not watch any film. Every and any form of entertainment these days has some political allegory to it. As unfortunate as it is at times, it's something overall that we have to literally accept and get used to unless something changes for the better. You can still be entertained even if it does have a certain message to it. Just go in without looking for anything and you'll be fine.

I want to see it but I get sick to my stomach if theres a ton of gore. If it's just suspense scary I can handle it

It was kind of more the, "You have to pay to even see why we disliked it," thing that had me thinking that. I'm sure it's plenty possible to dislike it.

I absolutely loved the film. I think what I enjoyed about it was how refreshing it is to have a director who knows how to create horror, suspense, and isn't relying on the jump scares to startle the audience. Performances were top notch, atmosphere was very unsettling and disturbing, and the ending was pretty messed up too.
You can tell how Peele was inspired by the Twilight Zone given how it literally plays out like a Twilight Zone episode. Easily one of the greatest horror films I've watched.

It's more bloody than anything else and it relies more on the intensity of the suspense rather than bloody violence.

Just got back. That was fan-freaking-tastic!
I loved everyone’s performances, but Lupita Nyong’o in particular really brought it. If she isn’t considered for acting awards for this, damn.
The soundtrack was fantastic too. Like everyone already knows about the amazing remix for “I Got 5 On It”, but there were a few tracks I think even managed to be better than that.

I’m guessing we won’t be getting a sequel to Keanu with all his recent success with the horror genre.

One of those "the gore is in your mind" movies.
