When Hall and Nash left we got fake Razor and fake Diesel.
What if when Dustin Rhodes left in 1999 we had Kurt Angle playing fake Goldust?
Mick Foley retires in early 2000 and Vince decides he wants to continue the character so puts a newly signed Eddie Guerrero into the mask?
This thread is for garbage ideas like this.

Goldust would have either gone to Blue Meanie rebranded as Blue Dust. Or Shawn Stasiak becomes a Fake Goldust as punishment for recording conversations as opposed to firing him.
Tiger Ali Singh becomes Vic Venom as a jab to Vince Russo for leaving and a bit of revenge for Jim Cornette for the Oklahoma skits. And since he looks slightly like him, Billy Gunn is the New Narcissist instead of The One after RTC stops him using the name Bad Ass.

The American Males stay together and Buff never joins the nWo. For some reason the nWo feels slighted by this and a fake American Males is born complete with an nWo version of their theme music. And, of course, thanks to this feud WCW wins the Monday Night Wars!

Now that I think about it, I'm mildly surprised they never tried a fake Rey Mysterio after he left

Wasn't there like 7 different guys playing Lord Humongous? If you count the one offs there is at least 10 of them. Gary Nations claims to be the true LH. Saying he got permission to use the name. But there is lots of feds in the Deep South that will throw the outfit on whoever and call them LH. Labor Day weekend 2016 we drove up to Lula MS. For Hollywood Jimmy's annual show at the Isle of Capri casino. Show started with Jimmy Hart and the Bruise Brothers, not the wresters, doing a concert. The planned main event was Jerry Lawler vs Lord Humongous. Jerry was going to come out, sing a song with Hart. Then get distracted by Hollywood Jimmy and get ambushed by Lord Humongous. Well Lawler had just opened his bar&grill and asked to get moved from main event to opening match. That way Lawler could leave early and get back to his bar. So we got to see a barely over 6 foot Lord Humongous vs Lawler. Found out after the show that this LH was an older pretty much retired guy who was given the outfit. Gary Nations was mad and ranted about "That is why indie wrestling is dead. Too many people using an old gimmick to get over."

What was the name of the Fake Steve Austin from the late 90s? I think it was like Even Colder something.
Xtreme Outlaw Wrestling got known for placing lots of former WCW/WWE names on their posters. Then at the show having fakes. One show Dusty Wolfe worked 3 matches. He was in the opening match as Mr Wrestling. Then in the match after intermission as Doink, and he at least wore the facepaint. Then worked the main event as WWE Superstar Dusty Wolfe.

Before the recent upswing, this was a big part of the British wrestling scene:

It's very common in AAA to re-use names the promotion owns. They just reused Myzteziz which is the name original Sin Cara/Caristico used after leaving WWE. One of the more notable examples was reusing La Parka, leading the more famous one to use LA Park.
This is essentially what WWE did. The names Razor Ramon and Diesel and the costumes/looks were their intellectual property.

In 1999, when Austin was feuding with ministry Undertaker, I wanted Taker to really mess with Steve. Bring in a guy who resembles Brian Pillman to really f*** with his mind. Yes, bring him back from the dead. They've tried embalming, they sacrificed Mideon, they put Steve "on the cross...I mean put him on the symbol", what's one more level of insanity?
No, it's not the worst idea I ever had.

There've been at least 15 "Hugos" that I'm aware of (Fun Fact: Scott Hall was LH in Florida for about two weeks early in his career). Even if Mike Stark or Jeff Van Kamp, the two original wrestling Lord Humongous (I forget who followed who, they both did the gimmick early on), gave him his blessing, Gary Nations has as much right to the gimmick as I do. Considering it's a 100% lift of a character from a film, no one in wrestling has any stake in its ownership.
