I am sure that threads about this have been done, but my most recent contribution to the 90s music thread led me to post this.
Then after reading the comments (Not exactly the smartest choice, I know, but some comments brought back memories about this very ad), I started to remember that Nickelodeon, of all channels, aired this ad a lot during their commercial breaks. I know a lot of people will think of this commercial when they hear "Return to Innocence" from Enigma, but I remember hearing it in "Man of the House," the movie with Jonathan Taylor Thomas and Chevy Chase.
Of course, sometimes I will remember seeing those Goin' South ads while watching Smackdown on Thursdays, especially with the hot blonde cowgirl on the cover art. I even remember one of the ads plugging a poster for ordering it with said hot model. (Cut to 00:29 for the ad)
What are some ads of this nature that you remember?

I have Pure Moods! After I saw the re-released version of The Exorcist in theaters, it struck me as odd how the commercial encourages listeners to, “set adrift with the timeless pleasures of Tubular Bells.” Because nothing says “relaxing” like a piece of music used in a film about demonic possession. Can’t forget this gem: Here’s an ad for a CD simply called “Punk.” The track listing is, well, see it for yourself! Finally, I remember ads for a kids’ music compilation called Sugar Beats. It was kinda like Kidz Bop, except this was kids singing songs from the ‘60s and ‘70s.

Not the original, but this compilation will always stick with me because there's still a part of me that wants, and will always want, that "I Brake For Monster Booty" bumper sticker.

I didn't get into music outside of video games and a few random Michael Jackson and Queen songs until 1998 or so, so for me and a lot of other people who grew up in the 90s, some of our only exposure to certain 80s music was through compilation commercials. It creates this weird thing where I know a big part of a chorus, and it cuts off at a certain point because I never bothered to hear the full song. In other words, I know about 7-10 seconds of a lot of hair metal ballads.

Monster Ballads, above, is the one that comes to mind for me
Funny that the frame is frozen on "Is this Love" because that's the song that comes to mind too

This one ran all the time in the UK, so much so that I can still remember which songs come on in order:

The funny thing about that Goin South cd is that some of those bands arent even Southern, and in the case of Foghat, not even American!

Flashy colours, text scrolling too fast to read. I do have this album somewhere.
Note: it does not have 100 songs, the Hottest 100 is annual music poll done by the alternative radio station Triple J in Australia, they select about 30 of the songs to make to put on a double CD album.
Fun fact: Zombie by The Cranberries came number 1 that year.. was not put on the album.

Lord I was born a rambling maaaaaan... People of the world...join hands...on the love train... The ink is black, the page is white... Don't you want somebody to loooove... Making frieeeeends, for the world to see... To everything, turn, turn, turn...

Totally Hits wasn't as successful as the Now! compilations, but had a few follow ups with 2001 and maybe 2002. Don't think they released anything after that.

For me it's DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU GOT TILL IT'S GOOOOONE HEAVEN ISN'T TOO FAR AWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY for me To me, there was, "Can you take me HIIIIIGH ENOOOOUGH?" I remember thinking that the lead singer to Damn Yankees reminded me of early 1990s Shawn Michaels. At least in the clip that was shown of that video in the ad. Anyway, I remembered this commercial.
