RIP
I know of her more from her directing and as a TV interview than as an actress on Laverne and Shirley. I forgot she directed Awakenings, the Robin Williams and Robert Deniro film.

What else can I say...longtime (lifetime) Laverne and Shirley fan here....yes, even watched the California years and the "Laverne, Where's Shirley?" final season.
Right now, the pearly gates have the sound outside of someone chanting something on the way there. Sounds like 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8, Schlemeil, Schlemazel, etc. etc.
And now both Marshalls are gone, eerie :-(

Man, Awakenings is one of my cry movies. No matter how many times I've seen it. And A League of their Own is just a fantastic movie. Really talented and funny lady. Seems like we lose a lot of them around this time. 😞

Great on Laverne and Shirley, amazing director (League of their Own is one of my favorite sports films) and probably the biggest Baseball buff of any celebrity I've ever seen. RIP.

Sad. Scares the hell out of me when I hear someone dying from Diabetes. Been dealing with it myself for 30 years.

Also technically the first Simpsons guest star as Ms. Botz (since Some Enchanted Evening was intended to be the pilot)

I will say that L&S and Happy Days up till now have had pretty good survival rates. Some 70s sitcoms have maybe 0-2 surviving cast members left. Some 80s ones even!
What's also eerie is I had this friend who passed away years back. His favorite sitcoms were L&S, Facts of Life, and Mary Tyler Moore. Think about it.

Sad. Scares the hell out of me when I hear someone dying from Diabetes. Been dealing with it myself for 30 years. I've been hovering around pre-diabetes for a few years now and it's a struggle. I know I'm lucky in that I still have a chance and can reverse things, it's just hard staying on the straight and narrow sometimes when the smallest thing can spike your glucose levels. Then to see someone actually die from it, that makes it that much scarier. RIP Ms. Marshall.

And now I have creeped myself out, as I only realized that after my friend's passing, we lost the star and/or mother figure of each of his favorite shows (except I Love Lucy, of course). And it took now for someone to say, she did it her way, yes her way? ;-)

This is honestly kind of a shock even a couple of hours later. Someone who I considered kind of timeless because she did so much over so many eras. Laverne and Shirley of course, Awakenings, Big, A League of Their Own. I dare say you could have a video shelf of nothing but her stuff and you would have good taste.
It’s an also scary reminder of my own mortality with type 1. I’m fine now, A1c is terrific, but diabetes is the silent killer. No one might know you have it if you take care of yourself, then suddenly it will take you away.
Prayers to the family, but thank goodness for the legacy she leaves behind.

Fan of "Laverne & Shirley", watched that a bunch growing. Glad she moved into film and great success.
Rest in peace, ma'am.

Random vid of the day: this Kmart ad (for the launch of the Big Kmart chain) is the only commercial Penny Marshall ever directed. She & Rosie appeared in a bunch of their print ads for the campaign. This is also technically Bob Hope's last credited performance.

I really want Tom Hanks to deliver her eulogy at the funeral. So right in the middle of it, at a touching moment, he can pick someone out of the crowd and yell “Are you crying!? There’s no crying in baseball!”.
