But the post-Yugi shows weren't as big as the Yugi show. So I assume thats why Pokemon doesn't want to go that route. But the cards still sell like gangbusters as opposed to Pokemon cards which died out but they still have the games Honestly that probably comes down more to... I've never been a Yu-Gi-Oh fan but its cards are SO much better than Pokemon's. The property's just more suited to it - they can freely add whatever the hell they want and constantly cycle in new faces. Pokemon you have your core of at the moment 808 possibilities (subtracting one since they're never printing Kadabra again) and can only just endlessly reuse those in varying ways. It's just a property a lot less conductive to constantly putting out new material.

Actually, 5D's had good ratings in Japan (aka: where it actually matters) otherwise the series would've stopped there. It helps that Synchro monsters were a huge hit (and actually changed the plot somewhat, namely the Blackwinds being hugely popular and making Crow a good guy instead of the last Dark Signer he was supposed to be), but the show itself had legs. But to answer the topic: because Pokemon is not a story with a beggining, middle and end. It's the never ending mis-adventures of Ash and Pikachu feat. a few other humans and pokemon.

His Japanese name is a spoof of a magician named Uri Geller who threw a fit and sued over it. They haven't printed a Kadabra card since 2003, with Abra cards instead evolving directly into Alakazam, and outside of cameos Kadabra hasn't been in the anime since 2005. This is also probably why Everstones don't work on Kadabra.

So he still hasnt won a Pokemon League? Did he ever go back to get Primeape? I hated Ash for leaving him behind. Primeape was great. He's won a few one off tournaments and the like, he was even supposed to win the last league until the writers were told otherwise. Other than that, he's saved the world close to a dozen times or so.

I am waiting for the inevitable depressing end Ash has been in a coma the entire time and all his adventures were his dream...hence why he never grows up and is always the main character. He never comes out of the coma A coma from getting electrocuted by Pikachu off jump and his adventure never actually started
Or from turning on his cell phone in the VR Room when they told him not to.

YGO is a show where they primarily play the card game. Thus advertising is prioritizing the card game, seemingly well. Pokemon is a show advertising adventures with Pokemon. Thus advertising the video games where you go on an adventure with your Pokemon.

Also its obvious, Ash is a major backstage politician. He is the one constant character because he always wants the spotlight.
Ash, you may be a household name, but so is garbage. And that stinks when it gets old too.
