Wrestling is all about risks even a simple normal bump can kill you like what happened to Perro Aguayo or others. It’s impossible to not have an accident, that being said if you’re gonna kill your self at least get paid, this kid probably got CTE for nothing.

Insults or not, the guys like Cornette are still right. In a risky business you shouldn't get rewarded for taking more insane risks. Any aerial move where you lose visual contact with your landing target is dangerous. Adding a table and the concrete floor to that equation is a stupid risk that deserves to be mocked out of the business. In that case, AJ Styles "deserves to be mocked out of the business," because he took the did the exact same risk, doing the same spot. AJ took a hell of risk, but he also had mats around the ring. And the best medical staff available, should something go wrong. And a 6’ 4’’ 240 pound man to land on. And a professional company providing the table and ensuring that it breaks the way it is meant to. That’s a lot more safety nets than this guy had.

Also, Disco Inferno's a f***ing dorkass. How do you figure? He's not the one who tried such a ridiculous spot, got seriously injured, and learned nothing.

This guy needs to take a good long hard look at the condition Sabu is in the present day and ask himself 'Is this who I want to be a less successful version of?'

I feel like he never learned that lesson of "The guys who stick around long enough to make big money know how to pick their spots"

I mean, I wouldn’t even be all that interested in seeing that spot if it went right.

This guy needs to take a good long hard look at the condition Sabu is in the present day and ask himself 'Is this who I want to be a less successful version of?' Unfortunately, I think the answer is probably "yes" for a lot of these guys. Because anything to be able to say you're "in the business."

I will cut the guy only the amount of slack to say, he's probably trying to save face some by being defiant. At this point, it's not like being deferential to Cornette is going to do him any good. Joey Ryan and Kenny Omega don't trip over themselves trying to beg for his favor, for example, it'd be both a waste of time and damaging to their credibility with their fans.
Of course, this dude has no credibility, and probably not a ton of fans, so it's a moot point. I hope he dials it the f*** back, even if he won't admit he has to do so, not unlike WWE using Right to Censor to actually scale back the raunchiness of the show while maintaining an illusion of defiance.

"Broke my skull...I'm unbreakable" mmmmm, nope If I didn't know any better, I'd say that was a Tito Ortiz quote.

He actually posts on wrestlingfigs.com message board and wrote a post about his injury. I'm sure he will take this little bit of fame with him and maybe even try to keep it going but to me, the meme with the couple pointing to the "old timers" screams of the Jim Ross quote "go ahead kid, make a name for yourself." He might, but it will be for negative reasons and consequences. I'd much rather watch a Disco Inferno match because it is sports and entertainment together than an indy youngster destroying his body or his opponents because ultimately he doesn't have that "it factor."

Oh, I'd rather he learn and stop taking stupid risks, too, and to realize he could be dead right now, but I was more talking about how he'd probably want to talk a big game whether he learned or not.

As abrasive as Cornette's criticism is, the entire basis of his argument is don't do stupid spots that will probably injure you, your opponent, or both even if you pull it off correctly, and especially don't do it at some Podunk indie show with little to no safety precautions for $50. That's a world of difference from hating on Omega for wrestling and selling for a kid and hating Ryan's dick-related comedy spots. Those two are quite right to tell Cornette to f*** off, while Phoenix just looks like an idiot for not at least acknowledging that behind the vitriol Cornette has a point.

There's no reason for spots like this to be done, especially without padding on the outside of the ring, and a move which surrenders so much of the wrestler's ability to see where they're going. I'm more just pointing out that there are professional reasons, along with stupid pride, that probably contribute to the defiance.

Well at least the guy from Memphis who jumped from almost two stories up wrote to Cornette and told him it was a mistake doing the spot.

Eh. It’s not my life.
If he wants to do another 450 through a table, that’s his choice.
At this point it’s silly arguing with him or calling him a spot monkey or whatever... anyone who attempts this stunt has balls IMO.
