I want to take a trip back in time to December 2017 and post on this board than in one year's time.. Daniel Bryan would be the WWE Champion, and a heel and see how quickly I got banned for being a terrible troll. You should throw in that everyone likes Roman again. |

I was thinking of who current Bryan reminds me of, and there's more than a little of "Cane Dewey" Cactus Jack in him. Both self-righteous, knowing what truly is best for everyone else. Making valid points, but couched in so much ego and condescension, along with a seething disdain for the people they seek to save. It's not wholly different from CM Punk's, but I feel like the power behind it is a different one.
Cactus Jack and Bryan both felt trapped, and wanted to bring people around to their line of thinking, but the conclusion was different that they came to.
Daniel Bryan's conclusion is anti-consumer culture eating the planet alive, and that he has a purity of purpose.
Cactus Jack's was that there was no salvation left for him, he was denied a place in WWF and had forsaken his place in WCW out of pride, and that he was stuck in ECW, performing for vultures. That his only saving grace could be to spare Tommy Dreamer from that fate, and to beat him down into submission and send him packing to one of the bigger companies, where he may not have his dignity, but he'd have money, his health, and fame.
