There's a rumor this year that they were going to cancel it for bullying, but it was pure BS-they even covered it on Snopes
They're showing it on a big screen here in the Bluegrass Museum I believe

This year, we're going to my Aunt's house for Christmas. She hates that movie, but my cousins love it. This should be interesting lol

And my annual reminder of mentioning that It Runs In The Family/My Summer Story also exists.
And somehow, it doesn't get airtime but the godawful Christmas Story 2 does.

Hey, this house looks familiar! Yep, I visited the house used for exterior shots in the film. A fan bought the house and restored it so that it looks like what we see in the movie. You can hide under the sink just like Randy did. One thing I didn’t realize until I toured the house: Director Bob Clark (who appears in the film as the Parkers’ neighbor) is wearing a Miami Dolphins stocking cap. Obviously that doesn’t quite mesh with the film’s setting, since the Dolphins weren’t around in the 1940s. Know what else wasn’t around back then? Blue bowling balls, even though Ralphie’s dad gets one.

Shoot, there was a lot of Southern transplants up here to work the steel mills when everything was fired up and running full blast. Joke around here is that "Southern Indiana" is anything South of US30/Lincoln Highway.

It's worth watching once in your life but I don't think it's the end all be all Christmas movie that everyone says it is. Call it a hot take if you want.

They also make officially licensed fudge in that town, too. Yes, it has the famed "Ohhhhhhhhh fuuuuuuuuuuuudge" quote on the box.

I checked their schedule and they already have shown and will show It’s a wonderful life, home alone, Christmas Vacation and Die Hard among others

Heard the film is set in 1940.
Just under a year before Pearl Harbour happened and the U.S entering WW2.
Not clearly stated, but it does add another layer to the film. They have a great Christmas that year, but next 4 or 5 will be pretty tough on everyone.

I own the movie on DVD, and love to watch it once a year in December, as well as all the extras with the grown up actors and stuff. I don't think there's a need for a 24 hour marathon. It wouldn't break my heart if they stopped doing that every year. It's not for everyone, what movie is, but for me personally, I love A Christmas Story even after all these years and will continue to watch it every December.

I guess because of this, we get 24 hours of other stuff. IFC is doing 24 hours of Die Hard, hosted by Al Powell/Carl Winslow. And one of the Starz channels is doing 24 hours of Scrooged.

Black Christmas is the superior Bob Clark Christmas film.

I'll always love the movie despite the overexposure, commercialization, and crappy spinoffs. (I do want to see the official other Shepherd movies to see if I was unfair to them for simply not being ACS)
