that Anaal Nathrakh album was a huge surprise for me. To me they've been on a cycle for ten years of following an incredible album up with a complete dud, and I LOVED their last album the Whole of the Law. I was fully prepared to write this one off and wait for their next album so for A New Kind of Horror to be as awesome as it was was more than welcomed. If I had any problems with it it was that it ended rather anti-climactically and was way too short. Personally, I have so far never heard an Anaal Nathrakh album that I didn't like. Granted, I've only listened to a third of them plus a demo compilation and an EP ( Total F***ing Necro demos, When Fire Rains Down From The Sky, Mankind Will Reap As It Has Sown EP, Hell Is Empty And All The Devils Are Here, In The Constellation Of The Black Widow, A New Kind Of Horror) so I'm not the most reliable expert on their work. Lol, those are seriously some of their best albums Check out Vantis, the Codex Necro and the Whole of the Law Avoid Passion and the one that came out in 2014

Dirty Computer by Janelle Monae and Some Rap Songs by Earl Sweatshirt are my favorites from the year.
Kacey Musgrave's album was really good too.

Kinda off topic but I'm kinda sad the new Pig Destroyer was not only not my #1 but wasn't even on my list.

This has been a very difficult year for me and I have listened to less new music in 2018 than I have in any year since I was a kid. It's made me very sad.
However, that said, the stuff I have heard in 2018 has been fantastic, and I have to highlight Lush by Snail Mail as an album I have worshipped at the altar of all year.
If you either are, or remember being, queer, sad or lonely, this is the one.

Eat the Elephant by A Perfect Circle. I will admit it took a few listens but after awhile it really grew on me. Delicious is still my favourite song as that one feels it could easily have been on Mer De Noms or 13th Step. "Delicious" rules. Absolutely love that song, the lyrics, the soaring guitar solo at the end...definitely one of their better tracks.

I actually spent a lot of the year checking out bands I'd missed put on previously. So I was late to the party with the likes of Code Orange, Indian, Chelsea Wolfe, Altar of Plagues and others but I bought sooo many albums this year that came put within the last few years. I'm sure next year will be more of the same.

Beyond Creation - Algorhythm I’ll admit I don’t love this band, but even if I did, wow that album title is awfu for a death metal record.

But I am delighted to see so many fans of this incredible band on this board.

I was thinking it was going to be the Album or the Year for sure, and possibly album of the decade.
