The Family Values Tribute
Featuring PoRn (as KoRn), Pimp Bizkit (as Limp Bizkit), Bloodless Child and Fettish
Date: Saturday December 22nd, 2018
Venue: the Rockpile in Toronto, Ontario
Man, the Rockpile is a hole. It’s such a dump that even I don’t really like it. And I have terrible taste. I only came to this show because I’ve never seen (and never will see) KoRn or Limp Bizkit live so this was it for me. Bloodless Child got added to the show on Monday making this one of the stranger bills I’ve seen this year: two nu-metal cover bands, a brutal death metal band and whatever the hell Fettish end up being.
I saw Bloodless Child opening for Belphegor a few years ago and I remember wishing their singer was in Belphegor that night, because their singer (Belphegors) sounded like shit. They’re one of those bands that play ANY show. I saw a video of them playing outside a library at a community fair once. They’re a really awesome but for whatever reason they play to empty venues. Seriously, there were four people standing in front of the stage for them (yours truly included), which is too bad because they’re one of Southern Ontario’s best death metal bands. I bought a shirt.

There was no band called Fettish playing this show. The cake was a lie.
It took PoRn a f***ing hour to get on stage. That’s way too long for any band. They only had one guitar player too. I guess that works for KoRns later stuff (the stuff I don’t know) but the earlier songs really missed the second guitar. They played way too much later stuff and I only really like the first two albums. Twist was awesome. I was almost about to bail on this show and go to something else before they played that. But not going into Chi right afterwards was a crime. Clown was good too. Some guy from the crowd got up and joined the band during that song...and he was better than their singer. They were good but I wanted moar from the first two albums. It was fun but whatever.

I’ve never been huge on Limp Bizkit but they had songs I liked. I think Pimp Bizkit played them all except Everything from the first album but I doubt that song’s ever been played live, even by the real band. It was the same guys from PoRn but a different singer. As their set wore on the guitarist broke more strings and had to run outside to their van to get different guitars. And everyone got drunker and drunker (both band and crowd). By the end the singer from PoRn came out and they did the worst impromptu cover of All in the Family ever heard, as the guitarist ran out to get another guitar and returned just in time to tell the rest of the band he didn’t know that song. They’d already played the whole song anyway so it didn’t matter.
…it was…
…it was beautiful…
