I believe the reason why Holiday World has stayed strong is the fact that they don't tie themselves to the gimmick to them being in Santa Claus, Indiana, but rather them looking at other regional theme parks (such as Cedar Point) and constantly updating rides for the thrill seeker and, in general, being a budget-friendly alternative for a family living in the area. It's one of the few amusement parks not owned by Cedar Fair in the Midwest, as well.
I've yet to go there (my only theme park experience was Kings Island and riding The Beast itself), but I'd love to experience it.

I'm glad that at least some of the Santa parks had a happy ending.

I was hoping there would be a reference to the one that used to reside outside Livingston, Texas. Never actually went there, but remember driving past it a few times. I can't even find verification it ever actually existed.

Wasn't there a Santa's Magical Village that was an actual place used in the series of shorts done as a sequel to Mexican Santa Clause. I know Rifftrax spoofed it, but I was under the impression they opened a real park while doing that.

Yay, Santa's Village in NH got a mention! IIRC Mick Foley (who I'm surprised, but not surprised, to learn was a rumored buyer of Santa Land in VT) mentioned that in one of his books in regards to where his love for Christmas probably got its start.

DL only touched on a very small portion of all the Santa/Xmas parks out there; Over the decades there were dozens and dozens of small ones across the country.

BTW, there are several YT channels devoted to old theme parks, and here's Expedition Theme Park's take on the subject:

On a side note, YouTube channels dedicated to chronicling old theme parks/rides are my new favourite thing.
