Right when we get around the 44 minute mark is when you can encapsulate how the Lex Luger push would have been if he had become the champion and he had done more of these promotional appearances.

I wonder why Taker wasn't part of the challenge. I mean months before he did this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTAkQqJq7VEYeah it was by no means impressive, but if he could 'chokeslam' aka get him off the ground(or push him), he could bodyslam him? Can't wait for the lads to give their thoughts on Undertaker's not so impressive chokeslam on the big guy.

I think Taker was too busy trying to get his urn back from Harvey Whippleman/Giant Gonzalez at the time.

Amazing, from Vince's awkward interactions with Lex to the best summation of the Lex Express ever: "its like shoving a stallion into a horse-box and driving it across the country for forty-five days."

Someone else said it, but he was feuding with Harvey and his monsters (Mr. Hughes and Giant Gonzalez) over the urn. He didn't start feuding with Yoko until Survivor Series.

Bob Backlund, Tatanka, Crush and the Steiners weren't feuding with Yoko either. Crush kind of was, and they did the angle where Yoko took him out a couple weeks later, which led to the heel turn. Backlund had no angle, but was just there, and I could see why they went with the Steiners since they were the face tag champs. Shawn was IC champ and a heel, so that's why he wasn't there. As for Tatanka, I think him being Native American and a babyface was enough for him to be patriotic enough to step up to the challenge. I think he was also in feud limbo since the mixed tag feud with him and Sherri against Bam Bam and Luna ended up scrapped with Sherri was released.

The boyzone also should have mentioned the interview Luger gave some years ago explaining how the slamming went:
At 33:41 Luger admits he lost all confidence and said "Yoko I can't do it! I'm on ice skates!" To which Yoko responded "No problem brudda, just get a wide stance I'll do the rest." Yeah Luger's Yoko impression isn't that good, but the fact Luger was nervous explains why it looked like a half slam.

Yeah, you don't want Taker doing the challenge as you actually have plans for him. It makes sense to use midcard faces as they can (essentially) job to Yoko so that Luger is elevated when he completes the challenge.

God, an hour of people just trying to slam him.
Half that length would have been too much, if the ring wasn't like lava they could have thrown a couple of matches out there.
Wish the boys had picked up on Francine being at the album event.

I was thinking what if it was Taker that slammed Yokozuna that day, they could sell it as no man alive could slam him. Then gong, the Dead Man comes down to the ring, grabs Yoko by the neck then scoops and slams. They could also use that to add to why he fears Taker, then after Taker settles his feuds with Whippleman he could move on to feud with Yaka Zuma.
