It was announced by a drunk Santa Vince. It shows how they feel about it already LOL.
Congrats to The Bellas by the way, future inaugural champs.

Who were the last holders of the previous women's tag titles? If they are still considered the holders they should have to defend them... lol. Judy Martin and Lelani Kai, which would be interesting to say the least. Especially if Jimmy Hart manages them one more time.

Who were the last holders of the previous women's tag titles? If they are still considered the holders they should have to defend them... lol. According to Wikipedia, the final holders of the WWF Women’s Tag Team Championship were The Glamour Girls (Leilani Kai and Judy Martin) and won then at a house show on June 8th 1988, and actually won the titles by count out, of all things. And it appears I spent so much time loookng this info up, so it was already mentioned a few times while posting it. Oops.

It was announced by a drunk Santa Vince. It shows how they fell about it already LOL. Congrats to The Bellas by the way, future inaugural champs. 1) Nikki Bella has stated that the match with Ronda is her last due to her neck injury and 2) I wouldn’t hold stock in how they really feel about the belts by a segment.

They already have women who aren't champ or challenging for it in random tag matches. They could change nothing, and the existence of the tag titles would actually improve the booking by virtue of the matches having relevance to anything.
As for the other thing, there is only one women's belt per brand, anyway. These existing does literally nothing to the men, any more than belts in Lucha Underground would have relevance to the meaning of the titles in WWE, so there's honestly not really anything to lose.

Cool.
I mean Sasha and Bayley already fight the Riott Squad for 30 f***ing minutes every Raw for little to no reason, at least this makes them fighting mean something other than “let’s let the girls burn half an hour for shits and giggles”.

We can't even handle the belts we have now, let's add more.

Good way to kill the hours they need to fill in during the weeks with something that they can pretend means something without putting a story behind it.

Dump one of the men's titles and allow any tag team to jump to the brand those tag titles are on

Just what they need. More titles. Get a mid card women’s title done with now for both brands and the inevitable second set of women’s tag titles, so you can add 6 more champions.

It is an interesting one if it is to be on only one show or defended on both brands - which I absolutely think it should be. This will make the argument for one Women’s World Champion stronger, which in turn makes the argument for one men’s World Champ stronger. Too many belts and title matches devalue championships, so I definitely think in adding these they need to also look at reducing or merging other titles to make way for them. John Cena being on both shows may also hint at how things could work going forward. Brand split to some extent is necessary to ensure talent gets tv time, but two of every title is not at all necessary. Cena being on both shows goes back to last year, they just want him to prop up both shows when he's free. And there is zero chance of the titles being merged with the hard split they're going with and sold to two different companies for over $2,000,000,000. I'd sooner expect them to make a women's only show on the Network or make the Women's division exclusive to one brand like the cruisers have. Yea, pretty much this
If there is a 3rd hour on SD then I can see them being given the CWs while the women are contained to Raw or they just give them their own show like 205 Live and tape it
Will be interesting to see the direction they go with this

I'm just waiting on how much of a clusterf*** interbrand champions are in an era of a hard-brand split, since you know we aren't getting two sets.
I have a feeling the titles will just end up on Raw for most of the time, with a Smackdown team eventually remembering they exist and challenging for them once every two months.

I just want them to bring back Emma as Tenille Dashwood, team her with Alicia Fox, and make the first Women’s Tag Champs The Captain and Tenille.

Sasha and Bayley ain’t winning this. Here’s why.
1. Because they really want it and the fans really want it, so WWE’s arse backward booking will have it so someone else wins (probably the Riott Squad) so the faces will have to chase the bad, bad heels who cheated to win in the first place.
2. Sasha and Bayley will be tied up with the Becky and Charlotte vs The 4 Horsewoman of MMA up until Wrestlemania and maybe beyond.
Being the inaugural tag champs vs being booked in the hottest angle in the company should seem a no brainer, but I feel Sasha would still be mad about this.

So... Will they mention at all there used to be Women's Tag Team Titles, or are we to pretend those titles never existed despite being defended at the first Royal Rumble? Don't get me wrong, glad to see them being made. Just feel that the old Women's Tags should at least be hinted at in this. ...or maybe I just want the Jumping Bomb Angels to be recognized again, I dunno. Of course they will be mentioned.

Hope NXT teams are included as well. Once they're both healthy, I'd love Fly Kicks (Dakota Kai & Tegan Nox) to challenge for them. Or find a way for Dakota to somehow be reunited with her old SHIMMER Tag Title partner Ruby Riott.
Same goes for NXT UK. They've not teamed there yet, but Toni Storm and Killer Kelly are a fun team on the indies as Killer Storm.

I'm iffy about it. They are overdue, but by the same token I have zero confidence in WWE's ability to book them well and it doesn't really help that Bayley and Sasha (who have awful chemistry as friends anyway), the Riott Squad, Mandy and Sonya, Nia and Tamina, and the IIconics are basically it in terms of established teams and that leaves just the one not-very-good face team up against... a bunch of people they've already fought a billion times and the IIconics.

A lot of people are saying that these titles should be co-branded but this could be a problem. Because I've read that fox dosen't want to promote superstars from a rival network.

I'm glad, they've got enough women already to put together five or six tags for this and a few of them would probably suit a tag better than singles.
Agreed you'd probably be best having a single championship that can be defended on any show, at present.
