NXT superstars are banned as an option since they technically have an easier time to rebuild.

Kevin Owens. Dude spent most of the year as a tackle dummy for the likes of Styles, Shane, Bryan, Strowman, Cena and Lashley (ending up with a W/L% of under 20% for the year), then he goes down hurt.

Aiden English maybe? Loses enough matches while teaming with Rusev that they tease Rusev turning on him for weeks before he randomly betrays Rusev, does this ridiculous video tease between he and Lana which really goes nowhere, Rusev beats him clean and he absolutely disappears after that.

I mean, guessing Roman's off the table, too, for... obvious reasons, but that'd be pretty f***ing hard to top, now wouldn't it?
But yeah, if we're talking in terms of professionally, Owens had a really bad 2018. I hope that when he comes back, they just turn him face or something, because there is not one damn thing I can think of that he could do as a heel that I'd find even remotely interesting for a while to come. Maybe team him with Sami, who is a pretty lame heel, himself, but good face, and just have them turn back the clock a bit and be good guys for a while. A *long* while.

There's three that *immediately* come to mind for me, and in order because welcome to the Power 25 bitches
1. Kevin Owens - Hands down the worst. Spent every waking moment getting his ass beat, mainly in that awful feud with Braun, and then went out with an injury. 2. Sami Zayn - Awful awful heel run, Was a main part of 2 of the worst segments of the entire year, and basically spent his time being a goober until he got hurt also. 3. Samoa Joe - Contracted chronic bitchititis after quoting AJ's Jesus. May never be the same.

I'd add Nakamura to the list. Sure, he won the Royal Rumble, but it amounted to jack shit in the end.

Sanity maybe?
since they were brought up sans Nikki showed up for like 2 weeks... and then did literally nothing...
Revival also had a pretty shitty year too...

Bray Wyatt's also pretty far down there. Involved in an awful Matt Hardy feud that just dragged on and on, basically got everything about his character killed off in the climax of it, became his sidekick, and then vanished for the rest of the year.

At least we were finally supposed to laugh at Bray instead of taking his nonsense seriously... it actually seemed fresh for once...

Those awful segments happened partly because he was hurt. Joe's a good call--Becky Lynch's success shows how far you can go if you're a great promo who also gets booked to back it up, and Joe shows you what happens if you're a great promo who never gets booked to back it up.

Wyatt, Owens and Zayn.
I’d also throw Bayley and Sasha in there.

As a huge fan of both men, I must admit that this is a solidly valid point. True, even.

Aside from the ones already mentioned, Jinder probably warrants a mention too, descending back to the depths of jobberdom from whence he came.

Yeah, I thought he was going to settle in to a midcard role where he would be U.S champion for a few months but after going to Raw, he'd lose to Jeff Hardy and get nowhere near that again.

He still had a pretty solid first half of the year though, winning the US title at WrestleMania and getting a match with Roman on PPV. That puts him above guys like Owens and Zayn who accomplished nothing all year and then both got injured.

Owens or Zayn, such terrible use of two great talents.

And before he won the WWE Title, Jinder was a career jobber that looked destined to spend his time in the WWE on Main Event, not in the main event. Him winning the US Title at 'mania keeps him out of this discussion.

I'm going with Aiden as well. He started the year as one half of a super hot act which got over largely due to his contributions, then ended the year MIA after being dumped from the act through no fault of his own.

Kevin Owens had a year that makes it really hard to get back to certain level from. Definitely a year that said “this is not a top guy”.
