Not really a crazy viewpoint. But if they make some offseason moves, particularly in their WR core and either draft or pick up a TE as either Gronk insurance or replacement, they'll still be in the conversation. They need an offseason overhaul. Feels like New England is the aging king just trying to hang on for as long as they can They're younger defensively, and Sony Michel seems to be a find solution at RB. Their age is really the offense. They need to spend a high pick on a receiver and/or make a trade for someone relatively younger. I've already covered TE. If they can figure a way to revamp their WR and either a healthier Gronk or replacement along the idea of Jared Cook on a short deal, they'll be ok, because the rest of the AFC East has pieces, but nobody is ready yet to take them down.

If I'm the Steelers brass, I sit Mike Tomlin down for a come to jesus moment. He's lost complete control of that team.

I lean towards 'he should stay' rather than 'he should go' but they do need to have a little pow-wow together to make sure they're all on the same page. Somehow if that meeting goes terribly, then he can go, but Tomlin's still a good coach I think, so I lean towards him staying.

He's a great cliche spoutin' cheerleader, but he seems to rely moreso on elite talent bailing him out than the X's and O's of a gameplan. That team has a real discipline problem and some of that is on him. He's not a bad coach, but I do think he's a bit overrated. Steelers also need to figure out a plan for their QB future, because Rothlisberger's heart isnt in it as much. He's out of shape and his decision making cost them a few games. With all the ballyhoo about Brady and a cliff, I think people need to take a closer look at Ben. His stats are still good, but my eyes tell me he's not even close to the same guy

As far as the AFC goes, I can make a case for anyone going to the Super Bowl other than the Texans. I just don't think they are any good whatsoever. If they win 1 game then they play the Pats on the road and they're done. I'd give Houston almost zero shot there. I'd give them a slight chance vs. KC but not a great one. Everyone else though? I can see the Chargers getting hot on the road as a 5 seed (7-1 road team). The Ravens finished #2 in points allowed behind the Bears and now Jackson is in the mix. The Colts have been the hottest team in football after going 1-5 to start the year. I dunno if I can see them beating both the Chiefs and Patriots though, so it would require some help.
For the NFC, I'd like to see the Saints but a part of me doesn't care for them screwing around on the last week. I just never like it when teams do that. For all the talk about the Superdome being this insane home field the Saints were only 6-2 at home this year and really seemed to have peaked earlier in the season. I'd like to see Saints/Chiefs as the Super Bowl, but who knows.

A little more line depth is what they desperately need. Well, that and a starting QB who isn’t made of wet cardboard. Mariota has missed so many games due to injury. Mariota will be one of two things next season... Injured or slightly better than mediocre. This offense is terrible and Henry can be pretty good but they’re bottom half next year no doubt Missing Delane Walker hurt, but yeah, otherwise, the offense is ass cheeks. And they're paying Malcom Butler a ton of money to get abused. LOL

Call me crazy, but I think this is New England's final real legit shot at a Super Bowl in this era. Brady at 42 isn't going to turn back the clock next year, Belichick is no spring chicken, the roster is getting older, the talent gap is a little thinner, the AFC seems a lot better than in years past. As long as New England keeps winning the AFC East, I'm never counting them out from being a Super Bowl team. I will say it won't get any easier for them from here on. Yes Brady is old and his numbers are starting to decline, but I'd rather take a 42 year old Brady than 2/3rds of the starting QBs in the NFL. I also think Gronk retires in the offseason. I do think Brady and Belichick both leave at the same time. It would not shock me if New England has told Josh McDaniels that if he stays, he'll be the replacement to Belichick.

I'd like to see Saints/Chiefs as the Super Bowl, but who knows. I feel that some context is needed here; those losses happened on the first and last weeks of the season. There are alway a few surprises week 1, and they clearly didn't care yesterday. It's insanely tough to win in New Orleans. And while the offense has come back to earth, the defense has been getting better throughout the season - except yesterday, but again, they were on cruise control. I feel that they're the most complete team in the league. That said, if they end up against Seattle, I'm calling the Hawks to win. Seattle has that NY Giants in '08 feel to me right now.
