I recently got this game through a sale, and it had already caught my attention months ago when they Game Grumps gave it a try (I think it was soon after it came out of early access and was officially completed, though they keep adding new features and will apparently soon release a massive update featuring pet animals) and I was curious if anybody else here is playing it.
For anyone unfamiliar, Raft is a survival game, vaguely similar to Minecraft or Ark. Now I know this may make some people groan and go "Urgh, another one of these?" but let me assure you, you haven't played one like this before. In fact, that's what immediately attracted me to it when I saw it on GG: its very unique twist on the gameplay. As you may have gathered from the title, you spawn on a tiny raft barely big enough to hold you, in the middle of the ocean, with nothing but water and debris as far as the eye can see. You also have a makeshift hook, which you have to use to gather said debris and use that to improve your raft and craft items that will help you in your survival. Oh yeah, and you're being stalked by a shark the entire time, who will bite chunks off your raft and will quickly go after you if you dive.
The great thing about this game is that it always stays on topic. Everything you craft has to do with either improving or navigating your raft, which you will turn into a massive boat before you know it, gathering food and water or protecting yourself from the goddamn shark. As a result, it's a very simple, very focused, very unique and most importantly, very fun game. It really sucked me in as it does an excellent job of allowing you to discover and unlock stuff at a steady pace, and making you want to find out what you can do next. Highly recommanded, especially if what puts you off with other survival games is the aimlessness of it as I cannot stress enough that it does stick to its theme. Oh and also, while it does technically go on infinitely, there IS a special event that makes a nice endgame IMO, but I won't say more to avoid spoilers.
So does anyone here play it or is interested in getting it?
