The decade that the world went soft. Everyone and everything was considered offensive at one point or another. Along with the people who complained about everyone being offended too easily being themselves the most easily offended people on the planet.

The decade every year became a "curse" on celebrities' lives?

A decade where social media gave everyone, for better or worse, a platform to say whatever thoughts and feelings they have about literally anything. Where people with varying extremes not only followed and looked up to these people, but gave anyone who was large enough a platform that could make them money, hack someone, ruin someone’s else’s life, or make someone else’s life better.
Also, the earlier parts of the decade still had that Wild West vibe on the internet, so a post from 2010 has about the same tone as one from 2006, just with better spelling (remember CAP LOCKS ARE KEWL and leet hax00rz dooodz!!11xd! talk?) But around 2013 and 2014, it exploded into something pretty much everybody, from all celebs, musicians, their lawyers, the companies, and their grandmas used to monitor and interact with others. Because of this, a ton of the net got basically bought, cleaned up, and homogenized into what it is today. Not that some of the stuff didn’t need to be cleaned up, but damn if I don’t miss that “this is our cool kids club” feeling the mid 2000s to early 2010s internet gave me.

Oh man, this. Social media may get bigger and more involved in years to come, but its inception and rapid rise to influence is pretty astounding, and pretty well contained to the 2010s. Also, in my opinion, it showed that the average American is far far far below average.
