Love how every Sasha thread on this board quickly devolves into people slamming her.
It's a new match, it's one that was talked about for a while to happen. Ronda slammed both Charlotte and Becky last night, so we'll see if that plays into anything going forward.

Sasha takes scary bumps against much more experienced workers than Ronda. I love Ronda to pieces, but her offense is occasionally a bit rough.
Ronda rough bump giver vs. Sasha rough bump taker might lead to a Mike Awesome/Masato Tanaka situation only many, many years after we should have known better.
And if we're being real, we all should have known better during Awesome/Tanaka.
However, if they both survive this, it's likely to be a very hot match and I'm excited to see it. I agree with the above post about Ronda working her way through the roster as far as opponents go, I'm really appreciating it. Ronda is the right balance of what they claim they do with Brock, where she's not too constant a presence to be boring but is there often enough to be a part of the show even when she's not there.

Here's how I'd let everything play out. Becky costs Ronda the title at Rumble. It's payback for what happened at TLC. Ronda then causes Becky to be eliminated from the Rumble, maybe by Shayna Bazsler to set up a future Horsewomen feud. Asuka beats Charlotte at Rumble to get revenge for Mania. Ember Moon wins the Rumble and challenges Asuka at Mania, her reasoning being that she's had her opportunities at Asuka before and come so close that she needs to beat Asuka for the title at Wrestlemania. Sasha starts rubbing her success in Bayley's face. Bayley wins the Elimination Chamber and faces Sasha at Mania, Sasha becomes full heel. Becky and Ronda yell and scream at the McMahons that they want each other at Mania and they get their wish. Maybe do Becky vs Charlotte in February or March to decide who gets to face Ronda, let them settle their differences. Charlotte wins the women's battle Royal at Mania so she can get one more thing on her resume.

She’s been directionless and terrible lumbered with the albatross that is Bayley for the best part of a year, and just last week in their “Resolutions” segments, Sasha’s resolution was to win the Women’s Tag Titles, so this does seem kind of out of the blue. It’s a new match up, and Sasha is no slouch so it should be good. Just does seem a quick booking decision more than anything. Honestly, strike that, reverse it, in my case. Bayley has carried her more than the other way around. There's a pretty good reason that when Bayley kicked her ass, the crowd sided with Bayley. That said, Banks vs Rousey is a fresh match, and it's nice to have Rousey dealing with someone other than Becky, Charlotte, and Nia for a change, even if obviously, it's a short reprieve before she goes right back to that.

Match will probably be good but I can't really claim to actually care about it. Sasha's not winning unless it's via Becky or Charlotte run-in to set up Rousey winning the Rumble and the character has nothing even slightly resembling momentum or presence at this point. And even if she did win, so what, she's by now firmly established as someone who even when she gets the job done can only do it in short bursts before blowing it.
Sasha's in desperate need of a heel turn for me to at all pay attention to her by this point. She's just been doing the same tired act, mostly poorly, for too long now for me to work up any actual interest in her.

WWE have botched Bayley's main roster run badly in terms of the presentation of her character, but at least she's been allowed to play to her strengths inside the ring. Sasha's Boss character is a heel act. A cool heel, but a heel nonetheless, and should never be the face in peril. It's like taking the Brock Lesnar presentation from the last six years and asking him to wrestle like a plucky underdog.

I think I'd be way more into the match if not for Ronda's cringeworthy promo during that Bliss segment.
Ronda Rousey is the perfect opponent for Sasha to turn heel on, but sadly we get boring babyface lame duck Sasha. I just hope she makes it through the match okay.

I have wanted this match since Rousey came around. Banks ring and character work has regressed a good bit, but I hope we get something similar to the banger Asuka and Sasha had on Raw around WM time last year. That was a badass match.

I'm definitely looking forward to it. I do think it's a filler feud, but it's also a great chance for Sasha to lift herself out of the doldrums she's been in for a long while.
Rousey is putting on good-to-great matches, we know Sasha can do the same and I hope they also seize the opportunity to lean back to heelish Boss persona.

Prepare for Sasha's sour "I'm jobbing" face.

This is a big problem of them not knowing how to book a division if your not in the main program more often than not your nothing of importance and lost in a sea of blah. It’s been a year and a half since Sasha has mattered when she was a casualty of the Alexa mega push and they never bothered rehabbing her so this comes out of the blue and screams of her just being a body for Ronda to beat to keep her occupied till mania with Charlotte or Becky.

This could be really good Rousey when they let her practice the all week before a match usually has good performances and Sasha’s best work of her career was her NXT takeover matches where she’d practice the matches all day every day at the performance center and at small NXT house shows and have a killer match at the takeover.

I used to be a huge fan of Sasha, but her ringwork has gotten so terrible as of late and her attitude outside the ring is complete shit. There is a part of me that hopes that she tries to shoot on Ronda. Ironically describes someone else that i bet you couldn't get enough of. I thought people stopped using the " BUT IF PUNK DID IT" fallacy long ago. What is this 2011?
